1911 for carry and range. WC or DW?

I need your insight guys between this two 1911 for carry and range use. The Wilson Combat CQB Compact .45ACP and Dan Wesson 1911 Commander Classic BobTail 45 ACP. If you can only have one and why? Thanks.

I’ve shot a lot of 1911s but never a DW. I currently have the WC CQB and NCH Falcon. Hard to explain why but the NHC just shoots better for me and feels better. I’ll sell my WC CQB here soon.

Its not really possible for them to be substantially different since its on the same patterned frame. Neither are match grade ultra tight fit, but since its a carry gun thats a good thing rather than bad.

I think the DW looks better, but I've used so many flawless WC parts too. Neither gun is deficient or anything, both are great.

You are comparing an officer sized frame to a government sized frame...

If you want a full size frame with compact slide that more closely compares in size and mag capacity to the DW, look at the Wilson Professional, or Elite Professional

OP, do you already own these? If so that's a pretty important point otherwise you'll get buying recommendations and solicitations.

If you own them use the one that works best for you. Without knowing a lot more about you than is wise to post o the Internet no one can really say much about what works best. How are you going to carry it, where...it goes on and on. What works for one person might be horrible for another, there is no base of reference.

I would recommend a full, Government sized 1911 for both. I've competed with and have taken many training classes with a 5" Wilson 1911. I would choose them over Dan Wesson because they've repaired my gun several times without any argument, paid shipping both ways, and never asked if I was the original owner. Dan Wesson makes a great gun, but if you're really going to shoot a 1911 a lot you're going to need a great warranty.
Come learn how to shoot gooder.

Since when? With literally tens of thousands of rounds ( many many 10s)down the bore on stock 1911s, never needed warranty service, no parts broke. 1911s are stupid easy to work on.

Anything that can wear is easily user replaceable. Properly maintained a good 1911 will last longer than the owner and still be stone reliable.

The mark of quality is not having to send a gun back for repair.

I would go with the Dan Wesson, love the bobtail for carry, another benefit would be holster wear is minimized ( less visible) if you get the stainless version.

Between those 2 options, I'd go with the Dan Wesson. I wouldn't get anything smaller than a commander size 1911.

                      Get both

Haven't owned a WC before but carry a DW CBoB in the rotation. The bobbed mainspring housing is a nice feature however I prefer some texture so I replaced with a Ed Brown snakeskin MSH. For some reason, DW did leave the hammer in the white for a few production years and I had to finish with Cold Blue. Ended up swapping out the rear sight to a single dot rear from CZ-USA (probably made by Heinie). Now the entire pistol is a V-Bob without the DLC finish.

Pick the best 1911 type/clone that matches your shoes and belt.

*I see no difference in any ccw or range use gun. It has to be able to do both anytime it's needed. Most of them do that just fine.
*every ccw piece I ever carried was also my primary plinking/training/range blaster. Anytime I shoot anything I always make sure the ccw piece gets a long turn too.

And if you want a bobtail Commander, why isn't the Nighthawk Predator 2 on your short list?

                            This

is the one I would choose over DW CBOB. And in fact I have, occupying one on the coveted three slots of my permit. And it is also on the roster

I’ve carried the DW Cbob all over the country. Well, half the country. Pretty easy to conceal. Shoots great. Easier to shoot well than my officer size pistols.
