Update. I bugged CZ more about this and they sent me some photos of what they had laying around. I saw 4…count ‘em FOUR CZ SP-01’s that hadn’t left the factory in Kansas City that all had different lettering than the other. Wild.

At any rate, I went to work on the pistol like a madman with ballistol and the rag I was using was as black as night when I was finished.

That being said, I finally took it outside today, and boyyyy does it shoot! Good lord. The only thing I have that shoots like that is a Dan Wesson 1911. Very happy with it.
Coffee grounds...you know what this stuff is used for?
Yeah, some people filter hot water through it and drink it.

Fairly certain SP-01 are still made in Czech Republic.. you probably got one with less than ideal roll mark. Like 75Bs, SP-01 are first parkerized then poly coated. Not the prettiest finish, but it is durable enough considering normal sub $650 street price.

As long as it shots well, keep it. Treat it like a tool and refinish with cerakote after you wear thru the factory finish.

Stop calling them roll marks... Obviously not stamped.
Looks like some poor quality laser job. Only something in prototype form should look so raw. If a company cheaps out on their logo's, etc. they must be cutting corners somewhere else you can't see.

Stop buying guns that look like crap and they will stop making them.
Once you DROS it, you own it. Always look them over carefully.
sigpicDon't ask how many guns I own, I lost count.

CZ 75s are painted and baked with polycoat. It looks to me that the etching on your gun occurred after the gun was coated (not prior as it was supposed to). You can see where the etching ate into the paint.
