It says it's a Colt 3" Combat Python, so $10,000 is just about the start of the price-range in "free states" and Buy-It-Now now at $15,000. I sold one just like that, same condition, NIB with Colt factory letter, back in 2014 for $13,700 - and that was 7 years ago.

I could see this hitting $15,000 easy - maybe more - even without the Buy-it-Now if someone doesn't finally click on that. And yes, were that available in CA for PPT, I suspect it could hit $18,000/$20,000.

The problem with these are that for every one that is now out there, they will most assuredly stay in this same condition; whomever buys them in this condition, or has them in this condition already, is surely not going to turn it into a CCW/range going piece. It will forever be in this condition, and it will merely continue to change hands as the years roll on.

And these come up semi-frequently, enough that I've seen a few like this condition sell over the past couple of years as available - including the one I sold (in CA) which is still out there somewhere, in this condition, and will surely be on the market again one day.

Keep an eye out.... it happens, but realize you are already buying something that has met its maximum valuation factor; going forward, any price gain is just inflation, or if some character in a soap-opera with zombies rekindles interest in Pythons again, so the price-point jumps due to fad-driven trending pop-culture factors.

Back in 1985 or 1986, I had the option of buying a used 3" Lew Horton California Combat for $650 or brand new 3" Python for $685. That was a lot back then because 4", 6", and 8"s were still selling for $400-ish. Chose the latter, but still debate whether I made the right choice. The used Horton had a great trigger, but mine is also pretty darn good after shooting well over 10,000 rounds. At the time, I knew 3"s were rare, but didn't know how rare. Never thought the value would surpass four-figures, much less five-figures. Since seeing several listed for unthinkable amounts, mine became a safe-queen which I hope my son appreciates one day. Is it worth THAT much? I guess it depends on how much money you have and how much you want it. Same logic for all of those people who buy a Ferrari when a Prius will get you there using less gas. While I also appreciate other S&W revolvers with good trigger jobs which I've since purchased, they aren't quite the same in my mind.
