Also, if you wanted it faster, you could bring your wife or GF or buddy to gunshop (assuming they had an HSC), and you both buy 1 gun each. At the 10th (pickup) day, your wife/GF/buddy does a PPT to you with another 10 day wait.

Result? 2 guns to you in 20 days. A transfer fee applies, of course, but the 2nd gun was gonna take a 2nd set of paperwork in any case.

You might be able to ask for a waiver from DOJ for 1-gun-a-month.

I've heard rumors of it for matched conseq. S/N specialty/collectible guns, etc. but not sure if that's true.

BTW, I have a 50th Anniv. Blackhawk in 357. Love it - besides the SAA-like size, esp love the new indexing pawl that aligns the cyl holes w/loading gate opening...

Tempted to get the 50th Anniv 44 Mag too, but I have 44 Mags running out my ears...

are those consecutively numbered? if so, they should be exempt from the one handgun per 30 days rule.

Not consecutive but matching. One is 357 magnum and the other is 44 magnum.

they wouldn't be excempted just because they're consecutively numbered. read that DOJ FAQ again...

actually, if it's your wife (or mother/father/grandfather/grandmother/son/daughter/grandson/granddaughter/husband) you wouldn't have to do another 10 day wait. he/she could just give it to you, send a form and $19 to the doj and you're good

now if he/she was just a friend/buddy/girlfriend/boyfriend, then you WOULD have to do the PPT + 10 day wait

Certainly wouldn't want to be accused of making any "straw purchases", which from what I understand was the reason given for the one handgun per thirty days infringement, I mean restriction.

Well it would only be a straw purchase if you weren't able to purchase the handgun yourself due to a crime or felony that restricts you from being able to possess any guns.

In this case, you buying one and your _____ buying the other would not be considered a straw purchase unless of course you are denied during the 10 day wait.

not a straw purchase. your wife/husband/son/daughter/mother/father/grandfather/grandmother/grandson/granddaughter is allowed to give you a gun as a gift as long as you are legally eligible to own a gun...

                    Dont Tread on Me

Intersting question. Can you start a private transfer while the gun is still on a 10 day wait for you to pick up?

PS - sorry I won't buy Ruger until they sell magazines >10 rounds to civlians. I know the benefit is academic for a CA resident but I'm pretty millitant when it comes to gun rights.

they do. for example: their 15 round 9mm magazines are in the online store...

Interesting. Looks like I'm wrong about the blanket policy. How about the 30 rounders for Mini 14s?

                          I would say no.

no, they only have 5 rounders. from the looks of it, their online store is very new (or redone), so they might not have everything on it yet. they don't even have the standard "no magazines more than 10 rounds to CA, MA..." disclaimers on there. (i'm sure they wouldn't ship, but it just looks like their online store is incomplete)
