I have the advantage arms kit, and its not good.

Brand new, I was getting 1-3 malfunctions per magazine with good ammo. Bad ammo was 5+. Its very ammo picky. Like many 22's, it prefers cci's.

I took a round file and sandpaper and filed out the feed ramp. It has obvious flaws in the casting that hang up feeding and extraction. It wasnt too much work. I got the malfunction rate down to maybe 1 in 150 rounds, so a dramatic improvement over failing every single mag a few times. Its less ammo picky after I filed out it, but it still prefers premium.

The sites are terrible. They're adjustable, and they'd be better if they weren't. The adjustable rear doesn't exactly hold its zero. Its sort of just overall cheap, its not glock quality.

I still like it, its a lot of fun, but I wouldn't buy it if you're expecting G19 reliability in a 22lr package. If you want to tinker with a cheap slide, its pretty fun for a range toy.

I have more than one of the Advantage Arms kits.
The reliability is increased by using ammo that manufacture recommends, proper application of shooting handgun fundamentals and keeping it lubed and clean.
I will suggest a dedicated handgun in .22 LR should offer greater reliability and possibly a wider range of ammo you can use.
I purchased several kits as a means to allow students to shoot a Glock but in .22LR. But I had to supply the ammo in order for the kits to be reliable. I have used CCI mini mag with near 99% reliability.

It's a cheap alternative using an existing glock frame. 22lr itself is dirty and finicky so don't expect flawless reliability or bullseye accuracy. It's good for teaching, training, or just plain old fun.

I was looking for a cheap alternative to get some more trigger time, ideally on the glock frame for practice and familiarity.

They're like $300, which is pretty steep. I know there are 22lr handguns out there for a tad more, but apparently they suck?

I use Golden Bullets in mine and it runs like a champ.

Buckmark does not suck, unless you are into esthetics.

Not similar to a Glock, but good for warmup.

For the cost I wouldn’t recommend it. If they were $100 I say go for it but at $300 plus additional magazines you’re setting yourself up for disappointment.

I owned a lot of 22 pistols and 22 conversion kits and except for the CZ kit they all disappointed.

The 22 handgun that I’ve been most satisfied with is the Ruger LCRx3 22lr. They don’t get more reliable than this and it’s impressively accurate! It may seem expensive at first but it quickly redeems itself.

My Glock Advantage Arms kits can be picky, but I have found it runs good/great with the ammo on the right, the left, not so much on the left.
I have an AA XD kit comes today, and I will do the same test.

Where do you find a $100 conversion kit????

Marginal reliability at best. My frustration ended when I stopped using it and bought a S&W model 41.

As noted above constant FTF or other hang ups.

I run my Advantage Arms kit on my G35 and G17. No issues at all. I use only CCI minimags or AR Tactical. I may have even used Federal bulk copper-plated solids on it, not sure which one.

I've trained more than a handful of new shooters on it and they're all impressed. I also use it for my own training to save on centerfire ammo.

I strip clean it every time it goes home and gets lubed a bit.

Based on my inventory of CCI AR Tacticals, I have run more than 900 rounds on it.

For the 1000 rounds I have fired on mine, it may have saved me at least $150 of 9mms and 40's, at pre-pandemic prices. Another 1000 rounds and I am breakeven.

Plus I am running the same gun so most of the mechanics translate well.

I bought a kit a month or so ago and have tried it on both of our G19s. Flawless operation on both using the preferred ammo (CCI 40 grain Mini-Mags). Very accurate also although I needed to touch up the adjustable sights a bit.

I am very pleased and impressed with this kit and plan to have a lot of fun with it. I haven't run that many rounds through it (maybe 10 mags) but virtually no problems so far. I have plenty of Mini-Mags and these will be used exclusively for this kit.

Well, it is a pretty impressive kit IMO, fully machined aluminum slide, stainless steel barrel, matched recoil spring, plastic 10 round magazine and a zipper case to store it all in.

The fabrication quality is quite good and it fits on the G19 frame perfectly. I have other .22 auto handguns which are fun but the Advantage Arms kit allows valuable inexpensive practice with the G19. And since I reload, all I have to do is sweep the .22 brass into the trash rather than crawling around picking up 9mm brass.

                              I like it.
