    Glock 48

I was in a local gun store this morning and had an opportunity to handle a Glock 48. This is the first time I have been able to actually fondle one as they haven't been in stock in any of the local stores. It felt like my G19 but slimmer and lighter and I fell in lust with it immediately. Let me be the first to say that I am definitely not a Glock fanboy, but I very much appreciate their reliability. For many years now my EDC piece has been a G19 and I have been quite satisfied with it. With summer coming up I had been considering getting something that was a bit smaller than the G19 but held more rounds than my Shield.

Anyway, I decided that I liked it enough to purchase it. So far, although I have only handled it a little bit and haven't got to shoot yet, I like it a lot. As soon as I can put a few rounds through it and get comfortable with the handling, I am going to put it into my carry rotation. The guy at the store where I got it highly recommended getting the Shield Arms 15 round magazines for it. He said that he uses them in his G43 and has been happy with them, so if they ever get back in stock I think I'll try one or two out and see how they work. If they are good to go, I am going to get a few and will probably carry the G48 full time.

Not too much to get excited about looks wise as it resembles every other Glock.

I picked a 48 up at a very reasonable price for California. Great carry pistol. Shoots nicer than the 43 or 43x. If you find one they are definitely worth picking up.

I have the 43X and like it very much. I also have a friend who has the G48 and wanted the usual stippling, trigger guard cuts, also had his slide sent out for red dot sight. My 43X on the right. The 48 is softer to shoot than the 43X, but I like the snappiness of the 43X for faster follow up shots at close range.

That's what the guy at the LGS said. When people have the opportunity to handle both, they usually choose the 48. He did have both a 43 and the 48 there and since I had the opportunity to do a direct A/B comparison the 48 just felt better. It has always seemed to me that the hardest part of a gun to conceal is the grip since the barrel merely runs parallel to your leg and so becomes a non issue.

Grips on the other hand, are the part that has to conceal under a shirt and when you have a long or thick grip it has a greater chance to print. In the winter when I am mostly wearing a coat or sweatshirt, the grip size is largely immaterial. In the summer when it gets hot up here I typically only wear t shirts and shorts and have been using the Shield as my primary summer CCW. If the G48 works out, I plan on it becoming my primary.

I have a couple hundred rounds packed and ready to go tomorrow for a little break in session. I also have a few mags worth of my standard defense load on tap. I'll update when I get back how it all works out.

I recently bought a 48MOS I really like it. It somewhat reminds me if my S&W M39 in size and feel.

It's a really nice pistol. I also just for yucks put the slide on a G43 with the slimmer frame, it's really thin.

The pic below is a Brownells G48 slide on a P80 G43 frame.

"skippy" please don't blow a gasket...

Those P80 frames are made just a little ways down the road from me.

I primarily collect guns from 1980 on back or conversely if they have some special provenance like my surplus US Army issued Sig P320. I never thought I would get excited by a Glock as I have had several in the past and I already had three of the darn things before I got this one. But I'll be dipped if this little guy doesn't have me all excited about going out tomorrow and seeing what it can do.

Solid piece of hardware handle like a Glock 19 but it feels like a shield perfection at it’s finest

                  48 vs 19

If Shield Arms ever gets caught up and I can get some of their 15 round magazines, I pretty much see no reason to carry the G19 any more.

I handled a glock 43X in Sparks Black Rifle back in 2019. The 43X grip and the trigger reach is a much better fit for me compare to the glock 43. I have a plus 2 mag base for the 43 but the grip is just too narrow for me and the 43X fits well while maintaining a thin profile.

Im not really a glock fan but recently bought a g43 fora ccw.Was thinking of the 48 as well but wanted sub compact but what i liked about them was the slimness of the guns.

My mom liked my 43 but i might get her the 48 since she wants a gun for home defense shes in ca so may make a nice mothers day gift for her too.

I have the 43, carry it daily, and like it. I just had a chance to hold the 43x a month ago and really liked the feel of it! Almost to the point where I would trade the 43 for the 43x. Doh! Ah well. I run a Taran Tactical mag plus 3 on my 43, about as good as I can get for now.

                        Enjoy the 48!

I just swapped my 43 carry to a 43X. I am very happy with the upgrade, no looking back!

When they chamber it in .40... then I'll get one.

Until then, the slimline G36 .45 ACP serves.

I took it out this morning and ran 150 rounds through it. As I expected the recoil is a bit sharper than with my G19 due to it being lighter and the grip narrower. For some reason I find the trigger to be worse than any of my other Glocks and as soon as I got home I ordered a ghost connector and a Copy of the Talon grip tape from a seller on Ebay for less than half the Talon price. We'll see how it works, if it doesn't I am only out a few bucks.

Accuracy wise I seem to shoot it pretty much the same as I shoot the G19. It has been awhile since I have shot anything and I'll be dipped if I haven't relapsed and was pulling to the left again. I am definitely going to have to work on that.

All shooting was done at 15 yards using a couple boxes of American Eagle and one box of CCI Blaser.
