    3 Inch Hog

I've had the gun 4 awhile, and it's helped me answer the "Is the Python worth it" question decisively.

The 686 barrel was a response to the Python barrel, luv its accuracy, and slowly as time went on, the lust 4 a Python just faded away.

    Cuz

    7 rds. vs 6

    $600.00 vs $2000.00

    Good balance

    Weighs as much as a N-frame 627

Shooting +P's is as soft w/this rod as w/the 627, which in my hand always looked like my bigger brother's gun.

A few weeks ago, I had just cleaned/oiled/reloaded the thing when I heard a rumble at the side of the house, went to investigate, and got the "drop" on a neighbors cat.

Threw a couple of pebbles at him so he doesn't come back because I take noises around my house seriously.

This gun turned out to be a good buy 4 me, never get tired of handling/cleaning/shooting it.

Except that lock - you don't need that lock

Here were the 1st couple of videos that started me sniffing in the gun's direction.

Watching somebody handling a gun/seeing it action always beats looking at a pic, b4 you decide you wanna see how it feels in your hand.

Past that, it came down to did I want the fluted/un-fluted cylinder.

I got the unfluted Talo, because it kind of looks like a Performance Center gun, w/o the "so what" rec barrel, which I didn't care about anyway. I've had Smith's where the trigger was as good as anything coming out of the PC and the trigger action on this gun is breaking in 2 pretty much as good an any of my PC guns. Sweet and crisp.

            NICE!

NICE! Sweet looking revolver you have there!

Is that an unfluted cylinder I see? Sweet! My S&W 625 has had all APEX Tactical Specialties work on the trigger, hammer and action. I have tried different S&W Performance Center revolvers like the PC625, PC 627 and PC 629 but nothing touches APEX Tactical Specialties work. You have a really great piece there. If I ever get some of my other stuff sold I plan on getting one more top of the line revolver since my wife wants to stay here in CA for now to be near her youngest granddaughters. That will give me one .45 auto, one custom .45 ACP revolver, and one more back-up revolver.

Keep us informed about how you enjoy your new pride and joy!!!

I'm debating between a S&W 627 PC 2.6" and a S&W 629 2.6". Each has ammo flexibility but totally different capabilities. I've never owned or even shot a .357 Magnum but I have extensive shooting experience with the .44 Magnum. Of course I would want to specifically target loads toward the two legged animals and not the largest four legged land carnivores I did in my former life.

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse things. Those two pics above are what I am trying to choose between for my next purchase.

Here is a pic off the internet of my Apex Tactical Specialties Custom S&W 625-8 JM 4" from when I purchased it off the internet. Sorry that I don't has a recent one as my wife and are are still experimenting learning how to get pics onto her smart phone, then onto our computer, and lastly onto a website like this. We are not very tech. smart.

I LOVE this S&W 625-8 JM as I never knew a revolver could be this nice! I have owned a custom Colt 1911 before but I never believed a revolver like this was possible. I read about revolvers custom tuned by Apex Tactical Specialties but I had no frame of reference to understand what was really possible for them to accomplish with a revolver. I read they did guns for some of the top revolver shooters' on the national circuits but that did not really mean anything to me having no frame of reference. I stumbled across mine slightly used at more or less of an estate sale and it came with all the gear to enter competition matches for an unbelievably LOW price so I jumped on it. I was just at the right place at the right time when it was just posted for sale. LUCKY!
