    Glock 17 Questions

Hey all, just a couple quick questions. I am looking for a fun gun for the woman of my life and a cheap shooter (oxymoron amirite?) for the range. I am thinking of getting myself a Glock 17 as they fit my hand quite well and are really easy for me to point.

    Questions:
Anyone know of a shop in San Diego that carries or has Glock 17 RTF (or whatever the suffix is for rough textured frame with the shark gills) in stock?
Is there such a thing as a Glock 17 in such a configuration that is compensated?
Last, as far as metal sights go, what would be a great replacement pair for range use?

    Thanks in advance friends.

You can get Heinie sights for about $45. I have them on my 17 for rear sights and just recently replaced the front sight with a fiber optic. I think the Heinie sights are much better than stock as far as function and target aquisition goes.

I'm not sure if the RTF frame is coming on the 17C yet. You can always buy a ported aftermarket barrel that sticks out about half an inch. If you do this, you can shoot cheaper lead bullets without worrying about the rifling.

Trijicon makes a really nice pair of 3 dot sights, The same as the night sights with the tritium just without the tritium! steel sights with 3 dots. check em out on lone wolf!

Yes you can get a Glock 17 compensated! That would be the Glock 17C.

I am not sure about the G17 RTF! Can't help ya there. GL though!

        A G17CRTF would be ideal wouldn't it?
I figured Heinie or Trijicon would be good picks. I really want to try out the fiber optic fronts as I have horrible eyes and every little bit helps.

Cal3gunner: We talking EKF style barrels?

I was thinking about lone wolf barrels
Lone Wolf Arms is the largest manufacturer of aftermarket parts for Glocks. We also have M&P Shield, Beretta/Taurus, and Browning Hi-Power parts.

but there are probably other brands that offer ported extended glock barrels

The fiber optic front sight is great! it really helps when shooting outside. It works great for fast shooting and you can still shoot precision shots using the top of the sight. I have the Sevigny fiber optic front with the Heinie rear. If you are buying both then you might as well get the Sevigny front with the warren rear sight, they come as a pair for about $70-80

I might if I planned on going to do some run and gun competitions, but to be honest, I just want to poke holes in paper and other fun stuff in a leisurely environment. I am actually looking at G17s or G19s just in case CCW ever becomes Shall Issue in CA. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Cal3: Link me please good sir. You have piqued my interests with the sight discussion.
