XD9 trigger upgrade, XDM elite trigger vs Glock

My XD9 is a couch gun, i dont care for it much, its a nice pistol but that trigger just really makes me not want to shoot it much at all. So my first order of business is to upgrade the trigger, i do not want a competition match trigger, i would like the same about of pressure required to pull, just a quicker reset or slower travel to reset. I have been advised to not have match triggers on carry guns because i do have some match triggers on my glocks and see why for an EDC its better to have something like OEM.

I saw the ads for the new XDM elite and its trigger looks almost like glock lol, has anyone here shot the XDM elite and how do the triggers compare. I see XDs on the shelf of almost all california LGS and im guessing the XDM elite is banned in CA, but i might be moving to nevada soon and the XDM has caught my attention as SA finally fixing all the stuff people have been complaining about loosey gooosy XDs for last 6 years. but 20+ 9mm capacity also caught my attention, as a 21-22 round magazine in a full size glock still has the ladder hanging out your pants feel to it. The OEM glock 15-17 is about the best you can do for IWB CC before it starts to poke out too much.

I am not sure about the Elite, but on my XD's and XDM's I did several trigger jobs by PRP and love them. Use it for my EDC all the time. Try the elite out at a shop if you can get one since they are off roster.

But as the old myth on triggers, I prefer the superior triggers, but CCW don't like enmeshed triggers, safety reasons and modifications can alter the weapon making it unsafe again. More guys will have more knowledge on the reasonings

+1 on the powder river precision kit if it fits your gun.

It made a world of difference.

      Edit:
I used the drop in kit (no fitting was needed) and it went to work right out of the box.

      YMMV
      Good luck!
      Sorry, not sorry.

Ok i was wondering what the equivelent of Pyramid to glock, would be what is generally the go to for XDs.

Powder River precision is good to go?

As mentioned, not looking for comp trigger, i generally want the same amount PSI for the pull, im just looking for a much quicker and tighter reset to the CLICK, because XDs are just horrid. Once you fire a round, the travel distance back before the trigger clicks is just so loose and takes so long, its by far my least favorite trigger and i own an unmodified m92fs lol

Powder river and springer precision both offer a selection of drop-in triggers for the Xd family. I’ve used them in my original bedside XD45 and later XDm45. Love the trigger feel after installation, especially knowing that I didn’t have to pay gunsmith and shipping fees to achieve the improvements. Highly recommend them.

XD stock trigger is long and squishy. With it the XD handgun feels like another “cheap” polymer pistol to me. But I put in a PRP combat trigger in, with their custom grip safety, and it was a whole different ballgame. At around five pounds the PRP trigger is glorious! All the mods cost me over $200 but it was well worth it.

(By the way, if the XD trigger stock is awful, so is the Glock trigger. The break is so stiff it feels like a stapler. Cheap polymer guns!)

^maybe its because ive been shooting glocks over 15 years and started learning on a snappy lil .40 cal glock 27, but i learned to love the glock OEM trigger.

Im not so concerned about the crispness of the trigger pull which 1911s and the like excel at...

My main measurement is the amount of travel the trigger has after the shot, before it clicks resets and is ready for another pull. Glock has a very nice, short travel and crisp reset, after each shot the trigger is damn near almost at reset and ready for the next shot.

In the XD after the shot, i have to let the trigger travel like 2x the amount before i get a squishy click and then its more travel back to fire the next shot....

I have agency and pyramid triggers on my glocks and honestly they are cool, but the OEM is still good to go for me, able to hit tight groups, just took 10+ years of shooting glocks before i finally had an epiphany and learned to let my finger ease after each shot until i hear the click, then pull the trigger again with barely any movement.

Thanks for recomendation though, gonna definately look into something new for the XD

IIRC Springfield uses Powder River parts if you send your XD to them for a trigger job.

I guess I don't understand what you are asking, and what is a "couch" gun" Are you saying you want the Elite as a carry gun? I read your post 3 times and couldn't figure this out. Obviously the Elite is set up for range/match shooting. Its got a magwell and match trigger. The standard XDm grip with 19+1 is already overly long. I can't imagine adding another 3 rounds to that is going to make it any better. I upgraded my XDm with the Powder River trigger. There's springs in the kit to allow for a lighter pull if you want it. The PRP trigger was better than stock.

I cannot say enough good things about PRP.
                        They are fantastic.
BTW, although XDs are more complicated than glocks, their triggers are far superior. You can get them to feel like hammer gun triggers.
On my XD40, I installed the one that need a bit of fitting. But it was easy for me to do with a simple sheet of sandpaper. WOW, what a difference.
I got serious with the XDS. Actually called PRP and spoke with the techs there.
I even got a part from them that was not for sale at that time.
I did all the work on both and both are much better to me than stock with 100% reliability.
