    103 years ago on 27 March, 1918 this Colt 1911 was shipped to the Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory, Springfield MA. It is one of 429,394 shipped that year.

              Nice!! I love seeing old work in original pristine condition.

              An observation and question about the OP's gun;
              The MSH Pin is driven in from the right side, which means it will be pushed out on the left side, just like the Trigger, Sear, Thumb Safety and Slide Stop Pins.

              Q: is this the originally intended and practiced setup?

                        Good eye! You are right, it is in backwards from the normal way you see those pins installed, although it makes no practical difference in the operation of the pistol. I'm sure that sometime in it's past someone put it in wrong way around. The gun as it is pictured, is exactly the way I bought it from a very elderly retired Navy Admiral. The only thing I have done to it was remove the grip panels to make sure there was no rust under them (there wasn't) and lightly lubricate the internals.
