    CMMG AR-pistol Question

I'm not too familiar with AR pistol-particulars. Can I purchase this pistol AR? I understand the single-shot aspect for DROS, and I know its off list, but doesnt the lower have to be marked 'pistol'? I'd really like to get this and match my CMMG rifle.

You'll have to find a "middleman" FFL out of state to receive the pistol and convert it to single shot configuration. As an example, Freakshow will do that, IIRC. The middleman FFL then sends it to your FFL in CA, who transfers it to you. It does not have to be marked "pistol". Once you have received it, you can convert it to semi-automatic with a locked in magazine of no more than 10 rounds' capacity.

I hate to say it, but if you search the forums for "AR pistol", you'll probably find a number of discussions on the subject. Reading through those will probably make you more comfortable and familiar with the subject. You may want to do so before moving forward.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Thanks for the help. I've read the threads, I guess my main question was whether the low had to be engraved 'pistol'

        No it doesn't.

If you want a CMMG AR pistol, have it shipped to me and I will do the single shot conversion and transfer for free. I'm on file with CMMG.

Try shooting CMMG an email, they are real accomodating and will probably install a bullet button and bob sled themselves, then ship directly to your CA FFL.

Or you could get a striped lower that was 4473'd as "other" and then you can build it to a pistol???

That works everywhere but CA. On our dros it gets logged as long gun

So what if a former NV resident brought over a few striped KD lowers that was 4473'd in NV as "other" should that said person decide what lowers will be built in to pistols and vol.reg. the striped lower at that time?

Or could he/she just do nothing but put them in the safe as they are striped, then vol.reg. the ones he/she would like to build in to pistols just before starting the project?

I know the vol.reg. says you have 90 days to reg. the handguns, but what if they are not yet handguns, and what if you don't yet know which lowers will be handguns, and which ones will be long guns??
