    The forgotten .45......HK USP

Ok, maybe not forgotten, but I haven't seen one of these in a while. I don't see many HKs in general when I head out to the local ranges nowadays.

I've wanted a USP 45 since 2003 when a friend of mine settled on one for his first handgun. My first handgun was a 1911 and all of my .45s are 1911s......until now.

Just picked it up today and it's a great addition to the collection...even though it is plastic. While it was in jail I picked up a match weight, just to make it's profile even bigger. lol

Not sure when they changed, but the date code is not on the slide. It is on the frame under the trigger guard.

I liked my USP 45 but my HK45 is nicer to shoot... better ergonomics

I love mine, just cleaned it last night. Curious why yours doesn’t have the purple extractor.

I love HK guns, but not HK the company. I’ve always had mediocre customer service experiences and they were not welcoming at Shot Show the one year I got to go.

I tried to like them, training buddy used a USP .40, but the .45 acp version was just too big for me. If the grip fit me better, I'd probably own one too.

Love USPs. My very first handgun and still have it. Also bought an older KF date code and converted it to 10mm.

Love my expert. My elite not so much , oddly enough. 2nd pistol i ever bought was a 45 fullsize, big upgrade from a RIA 1911 a1!

I tried the USP 45 against the Sig P220 and I shot better with the Sig.

But in 9mm USP especially the compact it's a very low felt recoil gun, not whippy like my older Glock 19. And, I owned that Glock for 25+ years.

Out of the 45. 40, and 9mm USPs I favor the latter.

The complaint that I always heard is that the USP 45 grip was too big. The trigger on the Expert is pretty legit. It fits me well. I actually feel like the M&P 45 is larger. I have to use the small grip on that one.

the whole USP line is awesome. if you're a fan of this platform then expert, elite and factory match are pretty awesome. full size tacticals as well as the compact version is not bad either. for the ultimate beast...mark 23 is the way to go. it's honestly a pistol that should be in a class of its own. nothing is built like it...over engineered in every way possible not to mention it's the only offensive pistol ever created.

The second handgun I ever bought was a Sig P220. Great gun, but my problem with Sigs is that with my grip I'm always engaging the slide stop and preventing the slide from locking back on an empty magazine. I sold the P220 eventually and stuck with 1911s for all my 45s until now.

I don't think I have big hands but I have no problem with the size of hte grip on the USP 45. I don't have any issues with Beretta 92 series pistols either with the factory grip panels.

Yeah, I was looking for an Expert, but settled on the USP full size. I've always liked HK pistols since I first handled and shot one, but just never got around to owning one until now.

Definitely want a Mk23 eventually. I see the ones you've had for sale. I was in on the recent auction for a Mk23 at Lock, Stock & Barrel but just went for more than I was willing to pay.

                          I have always had HKs.

My HK USP45 and my Lipsey HK45 Tactical.

The USP is more accurate for me but the HK45 has less recoil for me.

Also the USP line is last generation and the HK45 is current generation. Both are great firearms IMO.

USP expert master race. Best shooting polymer pistol period.
