    Taurus Revolvers

After seeing The Taurus .44 Magnum Tracker added to the "Approved" list, I have to ask if anyone knows if Taurus is going to get any more of their large bore revolvers approved? I'd buy a .45LC snubby in a heart beat if they'd get it tested. Was going to buy one in Dec.2000 before I found a mint M57. (DAMN 1 a Month crap!)
Am I alone in this or are there others out there who would like to be able to buy a big bore Taurus revolver?

I have a Tracker in 357 and its a very nice gun. I just love the look and it is a big reason I bought a revo. 357 feels like enough for me but I do enjoy watching the guys with gorilla hands shooting them. Me like's big fire balls . I don't think any weapon should be banned so I say bring them in and let the people be free!

I also wish they had more 45LC revolvers available. If you want a snubby 45LC why not get the Ruger RedHawk Alaskan.

Too big. The Trackers and snubbies are more the size of a S&W K frame.

I don't know about the larger bore hand guns but I do hope they get the Triad pistol approved soon. You can put 9mm, 38spc and 357 ammo through it. Have you heard of it? Just seems like it would be nice to have one. Saw it on the Tuarususa.com web site.

            You forgot .38 Super!

I don't think the Triad's available yet, but I'm seriously considering getting one when they are (assuming they get approved). The 7 round Tracker looks particularly appealing to me, and the prices should be reasonable.

              Hmm...

I'd wonder about utility of Triad except for raw survival use.

              9mm, 38Super(Auto) are .355" diameter while
              38/357 calibers are 0.357" diameter.

Accuracy is gonna suffer with at least two of these rounds, and perhaps with others too if gun design is compromised.

Stick with a Tracker or 686

I was thinking the same thing, but on the other hand it would sure make for a great end of the world type gun. Gives you many option of ammo for whatever you can find.

I like the idea but its a little scary shooting all those types of ammo. I can just picture the 9mm round bouncing around the chamber before it's pushed through the forcing cone. Gives my shives just thinking about it.

The word from Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm dual-cylinder owners is that the 9mm accuracy often suffers, though a few say theirs are accurate with both rounds.

These have the correct chambers, of course, and the problems are in the barrel dimensions. POI is generally going to be different, as you'd expect.

The Medusa revolver (http://www.cadco.com/firearms/pri.htm) supports 25 different calibers with one cylinder and barrel, but there aren't a whole lot of them out there, and they're getting expensive.

Here are some reports on them:

and a bit of discussion on the Triad, as well as a user report on a Skorpion, which is an updated Medusa:

I have a 9mm cylinder for my Blackhawk, but it needs a bit of fitting, and hasn't risen to the top of the to-do list yet.

Called Taurus USA. They said the Triad 627 has not been received into the USA, so it has not been submitted to CA's tests, yet.

The same thing (9mm in 38/357 gun) seems to occur in 45ACP shot in a 45LC revolver (for example, 45ACP conversion cylinder in a Ruger Blackhawk). And 22LR fired out of a 223bbl - a la 22LR conversions on AR15s.

In some of these instances, better accuracy might occur if shooting lead bullets instead of jacketed ones.
