does anyone have the hogue aluminum grips for p226r?? how do you like it?

the stock grips doesn't feel very nice and is a bit thick for my hand

it'd also be nice if you share some pictures of the gun

Thanks in advance, your help is greatly appreciated.

if it's a bit thick, try the P229.

      P239 with Hogue aluminum grips

I only have one pair of Hogue aluminum grips, and they are on my Sig P239 rather than a P226. I do like them, as they are quite thin and the checkering sticks to my hand very well.

The p229 felt exactly the same to me thickness wise, the only difference I felt was in the length, top-to-bottom, of the grips as compared to the 226. This was a direct, side to side compariosn of both firearms.

I have no direct experience with the hogue aluminum grips, but the G10s(supposed to be the same as al. only lighter and made out of composite) are noticable thinner in looks and feel compared to the stock plastic grips.

I have large hands(palm width) and short fingers, the G10s with the sig short trigger are almost as comfortable for me as a 1911 and M&P with the small insert(which dimensionally, is as close to a 1911 grip as you can get without having a 1911).

I have no pictures because this was not my personal firearm.

Aluminum grips IMO suck. They are generally the same temperature as the air, which generally are a pain to hold especially when cold. I bought a knife online that the shop said had G10 grips (the best material) and it ended up having aluminum grips. Just kinda marveled that people actually want aluminum while holding it for the short while before packing it up to return it.

I have been thinking about getting a set for my 226. I would like to try them before I buy them, I dont think the stock ones feel that bad.

You might have better luck over at sig forums for pictures http://sigforum.com/eve/forums

I have no direct experience with the aluminum, but the G10s I used had none of the issues the aluminum ones are supposed to have(too cold in cold weather, too hot in hot, etc.)

Plus they were very grippy, and had a thumb rest cut into them(I'm used to shooting with my thumbs high)
