Kimber Revolvers

OK, Kimber has revolvers in 2, 3, 4" barrel lengths, matte and polished stainless, and anodized(?) black, with or without exposed hammer.
A total of seven California compliant according to their website.
What I do not understand is the price range.
MSRP minimum $919, maximum $1,257. For essentially the same revolver.
I know they are not all available, etc. etc.
But why the price spread.
I am not complaining, I can probably afford either price, after some trade in.
Who can tell me why the $240 spread?

Ask the Kimber marketing department. They are the only ones who know. Any other opinions are just speculation.

As I've considered getting a K6S, I've also wondered at the pricing (still haven't decided to get one btw).

Here are some factors which probably affect pricing:

-laser grips
-night sights
-grip material/type
-finish (brushed, polished, black DLC)
-engraving/engraved

I've just got done with a quick look at Kimber's webpages:

Apparently, the "DC" model (black DLC/G10/night-sights) was the Calif. version page, and not on the rest-of-the-USA page, but could be just a Kimber website inadvertent omission. I also no longer saw the "TLE" versions, which were black-colored in some finish, unknown-to-me.

Whether any particular model is worth the extra cost, that'll become a personal decision. I do suspect getting a brushed stainless steel gun redone into black, and still work without binding up somewhere, would become worth the upcharge with the cost of shipping involved. Also, Kimber's price for K6S night-sights alone is $158 (then there'd be tax and shipping). Installation would also be on the buyer. G10 grips from Hogue are going for up to $70 (plus tax & shipping).

BTW, I've been a S&W 640Pro owner for a few years, which now seems to be quite the bargain if compared to a K6S:

These typically aren't sitting around in LGSs and usually need to be ordered either by the LGS or ordered by the buyer somewhere. I suspect S&W sells every one they make and I suspect might only be made once or twice per year.

The Kimber K6s's ammo capacity is 20% higher than the S&W 640, so not completely comparable.
