If you buy it ppt, say from the CG marketplace they don't charge you tax. For an $800 gun you're talking and extra $70-75. I've sold many guns where that extra $50 was just enough for the buyer to make a decision or not.

I never understood why people included DROS and Tax when making a case for either online or in a shop. Meaning, the government is going to get theirs no matter what...

Yeah, all that needs to be added to an online purchase is the cost to ship it, and whatever your FFL charges to bring it here. Tax and DROS you're going to pay either way.

I also suggest finding a “barely broken in” one in the Marketplace. I bought a 92fs Inox for $650 a few months ago.. It was barely used and in pristine condition. Not having to pay tax is a bonus when doing PPTs. By the way, it is an absolutely excellent gun. Go for it regardless of which route you choose to take.

Im still upset I didn't buy the 92fs Inox for $549.00 during Turner's 2019 spring sale. I waited too long and had to "settle" with the standard black 92fs for $569.00 I still can't figure out why the Inox was cheaper? My 92fs is Italian made so I am happy about that and looks stylish with fde hogue wraparounds.

I'd be careful on those Berettas.

Even on a 92fs there are still a number of Italian made parts on that pistol. Check the magazine well
for any dried-up Vincisgrassi noodles that someone at the Beretta Factory inadvertently left behind.

Then I went and spent another $50 on G10 grips, and $200 or so in parts to change all of the black and/or plastic parts to stainless. I should have bought another one for $549 and flipped it, just to finance the upgrades to the first one.

It's all good. The Beretta 92/m9 is a great gun and Im just happy to own one of any configuration. If I were to get another then id want a brigadier regardless of finish so I can replace the sights.

I also went down the aftermarket grip path and to me the Hogue wraparound grips feel the best. This was after comparing the stock, LOK thin grips, factory wood grips and the hogues.

Only other upgrades I tried were a match hammer and D spring, both factory parts. Neon green nail polish was also used to make the dotted sights more visible. D spring made a nice difference but the hammer wouldn't even function in my gun

A friend of mine picked up a Beretta M9 at the local Cabelas for $549, which I believe is MSRP.

I really like the 92 series of handguns. True, they are very large for the caliber, but at the same time that is what makes them so nice to shoot. However, $800 is at least two bills too much. I would rather wait before I would let myself be gouged like that.

Heck. pre Kung Flu, I sold an Italian made 92FS for $450 (I only paid $350) to a fellow here in Reno. I only sold it because I scored a military issue M9 from a retired generals estate and I needed to replenish by bank account.
