    Kel-Tec 9mm coversion

Hello all, I have a Kel-Tec 9mm. I wanted to sell it and was told I could only sell it to family, LEO, or out of state. Is this true? Also if I can't sell it (with these exceptions) I want to convert it if possible to a smaller caliber. Does anyone know if this is a possibility and if so what caliber.

    Thanks

Is this the wrong forum to place this question? Hello?

If you live in California, you can private party transfer any legal handgun (which your KT is) even if it's not on the CA certified list.

The only difference is your gun cannot be (easily) shipped. Now there is an exception, but it's not an easy fix, so you're much better of selling fact-to-face.

Thanks, I thought it was ridiculous that it had to be on the list to PPT but being ridiculous wouldn't mean that it wasn't the case in California.

How about converting it to a smaller caliber, is that possible?

You can sell it FTF to anyone you want. LEO/family/out of state only applies when you have to ship it to the buyer's FFL.

That's entirely up to you, as long as it's not some prohibited caliber. Never heard of .50BMG handguns though.

Caliber conversion would require an aftermarket/custom barrel and magazine.

              I don't think that's an easy or price-conscious possibility.

What's your issue with 9mm? Too much heat? If you took up reloading you could easily download the rounds.

I'm not aware of a caliber conversion for the KT handguns, you could try asking on ktog.org

if it was a p11 they made a step up conversion to 40 cal. ... however they are few are far between... they also made a 357 sig conversion thats even more rare... i never heard of a conversion to a smaller caliber for the p11 or any conversion for the pf9...
