Sights for Springfield 1911 GI?

Besides having the slide cut, are there any drop in sights available for 1911 GI? I like it, but after a few trips on the range with the stock sights I really want to replace it

if you want GI style. 10-8 consulting has their own version as well. Trijicon has a version with night sight.

Is your 1911 the GI model with WW on the prefix or the milspec with the NM on the serial.

If it's NM i would get the 10-8 version, matches up with the front sight. If it's WW may be better to have it milled to your preferred sight.

Just have to determine if your front is a stake on and what size the tenon is. I can't remember the size.


Their GI line has long been discontinued. I find a lot of members are referring to the milspec version as a GI model. A few subtle differences but not one in the same

Fusion also sells sights for the GI. If you’re not mechanically inclined/ or do not have the correct tools, let someone else install the front sight

You can send your slide (only) to Harrison and they will replace the rear and front sight for you. Done professionally.

Unless if you have tools and are good at using them, it is very difficult to do without marrying the slide. Especially the front sight on a GI.

Mine has WW as the prefix. As much as possible I would not like to have anything done to the slide. Thanks for the links, I will be researching those.

Thanks for this. I just bought the rear sight so I can swap it out.
The factory 3-dot is not my favorite..
