The 38/357 to me is better in SAA let’s face they aren’t your go to Guns for self defense anyway they are for fun.

Are you planning on participating in CASS? Most of those guys shoot powderpuff .38 handloads; it’s a lot cheaper and more comfortable.

Actual Navy revolvers were .36 caliber, so you shouldn't worry about shooting .357/.38 out of your repro.

It'd be easier and cheaper for you to shoot mostly .38 anyway.

If you really want to shoot .45 LC, you should be looking at the Army model,

The SAAs in .357 have a heavier barrel due to the smaller bore. Some like that but I find them muzzle heavy and with a sluggish feel to them. I like .44 special the best followed by .45 Colt

Once you shoot a .45 Colt you’ll understand why it’s worth it to pay more for ammo or reload. Don’t get me wrong, I love my .357/.38 cartridges, but the combo of single actions and big slugs is magic!

38/357. Start with the revolver, then add a lever in the same caliber.

Buy .38/.357 to shoot, .45LC to collect.

My Ruger is a .45LC, simply for ammo compatibility, as it matched the Winchester I had at the time.

Love my Vaquero's in 45LC but also reload for them. For style points I like my 1858 Remington w/ the 45LC conversion cylinder...

I have my "cowboy" gun in .357/.38 because I have a couple lever guns in that caliber.

It's the usual misconception that 45 Colt is the norm - it's not. It wasn't the original caliber. (Separately, I know most of you know it, but "Long Colt" or "LC" is not the correct caliber designation; it is called just "Colt"; no need to nitpick, though).

Turns out that most people want to go with 45 Colt for historical reasons, then they switch to 357/38 if they shoot a lot because it makes more sense. I have a Uberti and was going through the same dilemma, then decided on 357/38, even though I have a Winchester 1873 level action (made by Miroku) in 45C. I wish I got that one in 357/38 too...

45 LC is .62 cpr with free shipping (in freeish states anyway). Just ordered some.

45 Colt with full loads. The whole "powder puff" load thing ruins it.
