Colt 1911

A old timer at the club has this Colt 1911. It has ivory handles with emerald and rubies in the eyes of the dragon. The engraving was done by a notible Japanese guy..the name escapes me now. There is not an area on the gun where you can engrave anymore. The bolt and hammer are jeweled and the trigger breaks at 1.2 lbs. He is a retired B-29 bomber pilot from WW2 and carried this gun with him during the Korean War.

He is looking to sell this...How much would something like this go for?

Wow...
These types of guns typically sell through auction houses. Prices are subjective based on the market and who goes to the auction. I can tell you that the price is substantially increased if he were to write down the history of the piece and include it with the sale.

I'm a little bit surprised about the sights it has on it...

Price will be very dependant on who did the engraving as well. If it's one of the more popular Colt engravers and documented as such it would be worth more than a unknown engraver.
