    FNP-9 Orange Spring

    Hey everyone,

I just took down my FNP-9 after I got home and panicked when I saw what looked like a rust-coated guide rod spring. However, when I wiped it down with a white cloth almost nothing came off, except what looks like some gun lube/oil.

I tried googling and found this short thread: https://www.fnforum.net/threads/oran...e-fnp-9.20415/

    Has anyone else confirmed this?

Also, if it is a protective coating then should I treat it any differently when cleaning it?

    Thank you in advance.

I sold my FNP9 years ago but it is not uncommon to paint a spring so that you can differentiate different weights

Oh I did not know that.

Will normal cleaning cause the paint to come off?

Mine has the orange coating and operates fine with normal cleaning. I treat it the same as any other pistol and it is 100%. Hope this helps.

100% this helps so much! Nice getting confirmation from another Owner of an Orange spring and has had no issues with cleaning it.

              Thank you again dyjag!

I've heard that FN customer service is borderline horrific.

Wow really? That's a shame. I created an account on their website just in case I ever needed to send in my FN firearms.

Sig Sauer has been amazing. Quick communication and answered all my questions. Even helped me not spend money!
