Yeah after I posted that I was looking around on one of the site's sponsor banner pages and saw it was CA legal, but OOS.

If you are a bottom line type of person, you wouldn't be buying a pistol with such expensive ammo.
A visit to the range to shoot 200-rds with the Tokarev could cost you $360 just for the ammo, not including lane rental fees plus targets.

Bottom line is 2 visits to the range with the Tok could equal the price of a Springfield Mil Spec 1911 pistol.

I don't plan to buy any ammo with the current price hikes (aside from .22LR, I like shooting my Marlin too much) unless you are speaking specifically on the prices of Tok ammo even without the hikes in CA. Looking at the out of stock products the prices seem like they range from .40 to .75 cents per round.

I don't have any romance with the Tok... I jus wan one, and the fact that they're pretty cheap and to me look cool, and don't jam up like a Hi - Point are all plusses.

Heck, if you want one just because you can, I support that!

Just commenting based-on your "bottom line type of person" remark.

My comment on Tok ammo pricing being from $60-90/box of 50 fmj is current national price, not CA.

If you feel that you have gotten this message in error, please call 704-774-1102 or email us at sales@classicfirearms.com.", and googling "CA C&R restriction" I got "In California, buyers may not purchase a curio or relic online, inside the state or across state lines that can be concealed, such as a pistol, unless purchased from a class-one licensed FFL dealer". So it seems like even with a C&R license I couldn't have it shipped to me, but I'm new to all this.
That is a confusingly phrased sentence. What they mean is that even thought the gun is C&R eligible, (meaning in free states a FFL03 C&R holder can have it sent to his house) in CA it still must go to a FFL01 (aka regular gunshop) like any other modern handgun. If you still want to buy it, like others said call them up and order it, and have it delivered to the gun shop of your choice.

The Hi-point is an easy butt of jokes yet for all it's negatives, I've never heard anyone saying that they are unreliable. Quite the contrary, they seem to take a lot of abuse and still keep going.

Ahhh, thanks for the extra verbage on their blurb!

My father has a hi - point, and the thing can't shoot a single mag without at least one failure to eject. Maybe it's a lemon if they have an otherwise good reputation for reliability.

Oh yeah I don't think I would ever spend that much on a case of ammo unless it was a very high round count/big boolet. Or a rare cartridge, but I don't have any of those.

I bought a couple spam cans of 7.62x25 several years ago for 5 cents / round. I didn't even have a Tokarev but pull the 85 grain steel core projectiles and reload them for M1 carbine ammo. One of these days I'll offer 1000 berdan primed Tokarev cases for someone to reload them.

                      I'd intercourse Classic...

...and the horses they rode in on.

Classic is higher in price, not to mention grading, than any other dealer I've seen...and I've had a C&R license for more than 20 years.

I'd recommend empirearms.com. Empire's owner, Dennis Kroh, is a member here. Prices are fair, photos are of the gun you're going to buy, not a "typical example" from a pile of guns. Grading is conservative. Empire needs a copy of your C&R prior to taking your order.

Just got back from the gun store with my firearms safety certificate, brand shiny new and I have my eyes on a nice lil pistola. Unfortunately one of the two gun shops within walking distance will close asap, and the other is sporadically open, and today is not an open day it should seem.

Only 1 handgun per 30 days! Damn, that sucks. Tok will wait then, found a heritage revolver I think will be more fun in the short term and as a plus, it is basically the Ruger bearcat I grew up with. Except cheap lol.

Brand new Smith and Wesson Model 10! And I managed to find 1000 rounds of 38 special wadcutters.

After shooting a few semi autos and double action revolvers I decided to go with a DA/SA, and my local gun shop had a really nice new production model 10, and after shooting one at a range I decided to pick it up.

Glad you found something you like.

Just wanted to add: there is a huge difference between 'not on the Roster' and 'illegal'; should have done that in November.

Very few handguns are illegal. But off-Roster handguns may not be transferred by a CA FFL unless the receiver is exempt from the Roster (ex: LEO), the gun is exempt (ex: C&R), or the transfer is exempt (ex: PPT or intrafamily).
