SIG mk25 wrong serial

We just got a SIG mk25 into stock and the stamped frame serial number doesn't match the glued-on QR code tag. Is this normal? I thought they were supposed to match?

Ideally they would match but there is no law saying they have to. A lot of times those factory vinyl labels tear or just go away after cleaning or handling.

I would not sweat this, those tags come and go and fall off alot. Someone probably found a fake and just put it on. I would get another custom one made to match.

Brand new from SIG and the tag matched the one on the box. Looks like someone skipped a label roll at the factory.

Hello Best Collateral. I'll be seeing you folks again soon. I've not seen you fellas since July. It's been too long.

That stuff happens. I had that once with the only Colt I've ever owned. I ended up with blue Colt case with two stickers on it. One on each end of the case. Neither of which matched the ser# on the Wiley Clapp Commander in the case. I mentioned it in the moment. The FFL I dealt with waved it off, didn't bat an eye and just DROS'ed the actual ser# on the weapon. All was good in that case.

Based wholly on that experience, you're obviously DROS'ing the ser# on the weapon and you're GTG is my understanding.

But I am not an FFL. FFL's chime in here and correct me if I'm wrong.

Every FFL I dealt with really enters the actual serial number from the gun's frame.

I pointed out that the serial number is on the case but they say they don't rely on that because it can get smudged, dirty, etc.

I heard that the code on the side is more for the factory to match a particular run of frames to the slides. So I don’t think it needs to match an exact serial# but rather a batch of parts.

wife's and mine fell off after few cleanings. didn't even bother to check if they were matching the frames serial number.
