    Parrot

    Who got one?

Do you shoot it in competition? Minor or Major?

    Any problems finding a holster?

Every pic I've seen of one has a C-More on it. Do they come with one?

The local gs has one, I think. I just remember it was orange and expensive. Now that I've read a little about it, I think I want to go down there and play with it.

I have one. No, I don't compete. If I did, I'd get a plain black Czechmate. I got it for the collecting aspect.

They do come with a C-More sight.

If the one you saw at the LGS was orange, maybe it was the TSO?

        To me, yours is orange.

I figure a used race gun drops a ton of value, so I expect losing a lot of money going in, because Ima going to shoot it if I get one.

How much cheaper is that black Checkmate? I can get some colorful paint I guess.

I competed with a CZ Parrot for awhile. It was my go to gun for USPSA.

I shot 9MM major out of it. If you are planning on reloading for it, be advised that the chamber/throat is VERY short. You'll have to use a fast burning powder like Winchester Autocomp to prevent powder from spilling. If you are not planning on competing and using this at the range only. It will run any factory 9MM ammo once broken in. If you try to use factory ammo when it is new, it will not extract properly. The magazines also need to be tuned, they will turn into a salt shaker if you drop them and a little bit of sand gets in.

It was stupid reliable and accurate, I put well over 20K+ rounds through it. Have never had a failure. Make sure you change out your slide stops and extractor regularly as those are the most high breakage parts.

In terms of holster, I used a Double Alpha X. There are 2 versions of the Parrot/Czechmate. The earlier models had a thin trigger guard and the later models have a fatter one. Make sure you choose the appropriate insert. It's all detailed on Double Alpha's website.

It does come with a Cmore Sliderider and is ready to race out of the box. Also comes with a bunch of other accessories.

I eventually sold mine and moved to an SVI 2011.

The recoil impulse on the Czechmate/Parrot is a lot sharper than a 2011. The main reason I made the switched was the magwell on the Czechmate/Parrot was not blended and it is relatively small which made reloading a lot more difficult, the trigger is close to a 2011 but the 2011 is still king. The 2011 trigger design is a lot better than the pivoting/hinge design on the CZ. A huge positive for the CZ is that parts do not need to be fitted (for the most part).

Oh!!! Don't want to "buy once, cry once.." again (last time was with a Shadow 2)... I am seeing a $5K Parrot somewhere... And $5K is a lot cheaper than a 2011.

Side by side with a TSO, the grips are clearly yellow.

The CM is the same price IIRC.

No, I don't shoot it. I mostly shoot an S2 for classes.

What bullets did you use? If I get a race gun, I'm gonna race with it!

Maybe I'll have to change how much I size cases. I fill them up with 5.1 of 231. I have to index the shellplate very slowly to keep the powder in the case. If I use flat based bullets the kernels crunch when I seat the bullet.

I got that hint when I saw they give you extras when you buy the gun, lol.

I thought the pivoting design was better because of the leverage. You can make a lighter trigger with more sear engagement. How heavy would you say it was? I knew a gunsmith that let me borrow one of their guns when mine broke. It was a P9 (CZ semi-clone) with a single action only trigger that was 1.5-2 pounds.

I just don't like the 1911 format any more, since I discovered the CZ and SIG double-stack shape. I suspect I would dislike a double-stack 1911 even more.

Oh man, how can you do that? It's like buying a Porsche and keeping it in the garage.

Of course I don't know what a "S2" is anyway. When I bought my CZ-75, the only model you could get was "CZ-75", and we couldn't even get those. I just lucked into mine, I think it was a military bring-back.

This makes me a little bit sad, but i understand.

Just a heads up, on the short free bore in CZ barrels that has been mentioned in this thread. You can have the barrel reamed out to allow for more reloading options. From what i have gathered, it is a common modification.

Okay, I HAD to go to the lgs. Turns out it was an Orange Shadow 2. It was okay, not great. Double action. No provision for optics. $2095, which is high, but only about 100-200 more than online, and this shop never has bargain price on the sticker.

It got me thinking about the P9 I have. Most CZ parts would probably fit. All I need is a SA trigger and hammer and scope mount. It already has a good comp. The only problem is magazines, CZ mags don't fit. Maybe Witness mags would work. I have some P9 mags but they hold only a measly 15 rounds. It would probably only cost $600-700, plus mags.

You can have a 2011 Open gun built for about $5k (depending on the parts you go with).
