Better Sights for 9mm Shield

I just got back from doing my CCW renewal shoot and had some difficulty seeing the front sight. It was dusk when I shot and I have been noticing a little trouble with low light vision. Not for general activities but wouldn't want to be in a SD sitch and not be able to easily see the front sight. I know Trijicon is tier 1 but what else will help me out? What else do you guys like?

I have some night sights TGH3s installed on mine with the white front ring.

Although for your case, see if the have those fiber optic/NS as those are easier to see in low light.

I had them installed on my G26. Great when there’s some light source as it makes them really pop. Night sights are standard. I didn’t have the contrasting colors as in the link above (all green) but if I’d do it over, I would.

I have TruGlo TFX Pro on mine and love them. Made a world of difference. I have trijicon on other pistols, and the next set I buy will be TFX Pro again. Cheaper and I pick it up better in low/no light.

dusk and dawn are always the worst even with night sights it is just a hard time for your eyes.
Hi viz fiber sights are the easiest to pickup.

also you should practice a little point and shoot where you use the muzzle as the sight this is great for 10yds and under which is you most likely scenario when CCW

Tru Glo TFX are the only sights to get. I put them on all my CCW pistols.

Night sights don’t show very bright in dim lighting. It’s best to get very familiar with your draw, with enough practice, you’ll know where your gun is pointing.

I like Trijicon HD’s the best, but its all personal preference.

I put a pair of Ameriglo Pro i-Dot night sights on mine and really like them. Includes a white ring around the front tube. Easy for me to pick-up on the draw.

If you spend the money on the Trijicons, be careful. The tritium vials are warranted for twelve years. Do not think your gettin' a deal by saving thirty bucks and then end up with sights where the tritium vials have 2015 date markings on them. The date marking is the last pair of numbers on the really tiny writing you typically find on the side of the rear sight. Occasionally you'll see it on one of the sides of the front blade.

I've used Trijicons, Speed Sights and the current choice is the Heinie Ledge Pro Tritiums

I've not used the TFX's personally. But they sure seem to offer the best of both worlds. As has been pointed out its the dim light of dusk/dawn that's often the most difficult to acquire that from sight in.

As also said above, enough training can address most deficiencies. But sights are also a very personal choice because it is about what works for you OP.

That said OP if, you ever actually need to use that weapon, odds are, it will be in a low or no light situation. Do bear that fact in mind.

I see Shields with red/green FP sights on them for sale frequently. Maybe try those? or something like the Ameriglo Spartan Operator sight set?

If it was a subcompact with a rail like an XD 3" model I'd say get a small weapon light and a holster designed for that.
