    Colt 45 1911 style frames

    What Colt 1911 style frames are legal in Calif. Want to build one . Have seen frames on web sites gun Broker ETC. But what can be brought in to Calif or are they LEO restricted.

    You cant purchase 1911 frames unless u bring them from out of state or LEO...

      does that mean if I find one on gun broker i can have it sent to and FFL here and if I'm LEO I can have it transfered to me with a LEO letter.

        you wont need a letter it is just dros'ed as a frame and yes it can be sent to your local FFL

          Thanks, I was wondering as I have seen some shops on gun Broker that say the frames CANNOT or will not send to Calif.

            A lot of ppl on gunbroker will not even ship guns that are approved for sale in california strictly because they do not want to deal with CA! Even though CA probably buys more guns than any other state...

              I know Im threadjacking- but my search turned up this thread.
              I've seen people call them Colt and Colt's pistols/ frames/ 1911/ SAA before. Is one an indication of vintage etc? Are both names interchangeable ?

              It confuses me plus I think Ive seen Colt's engraved on a frame before... Just wish I knew where.
