All you need is the barrel. Everything else works between the two rounds including the .38 super magazine for 9 mm.

Some time back I bought a 9mm upper kit from Sarco and fit it to a Llama .45 lower
I got lucky and the Slide fit the frame near perfectly. Some minor fitting was required, but I muddled through it (your results may differ). I haven't shot it in a while, but I had no problems or stoppages the several time I took it to the range.

Some will deride the quality, but it suit my budget and works fine for a casual shooter / plinker
The one I got was for a 70 series 1911, but I see that Sarco is only offering them with a ramped barrel, currently.

Oh, and I had to get a different slide stop (for 9mm mags) that I got off ebay

I bought a complete .38 super upper with ejector and put it on a .45 frame. It usually worked but I had about 1 stoppage about every 3 magazines. I imagine a 9mm conversion on a .45 frame would have the same experience.

Like I said, it requires some smith skill to get the .38 top to work.

Did you change to a 9mm/38 super slide stop?
