    might get a new pistol

I will keep it under 600, I was thinking of getting a .22 pistol buckmark or mk22/45 or possible 9mm or .40, thinking of glock 19 or 23, but am not the biggest glock fan. I dont have a revolver yet though either. Any reccomendations?

It depends.... Do you want a .22, 9mm, .40, or a revolver cartridge?

    Get a .357 S&W revolver....

What role are you looking for your pistol to take? I'm a huge glock fan so of course that would be my first choice. The 19 and the 23 suit all needs.

Have you looked into the xd? what about the smith and wesson M&P? are you just not into the polymer frames? What other guns do you already have?

J-frames are always a great choice but i would need something with more versatility before feeling comfortably purchasing one if i did not already have a combat pistol.

I own a taurus 24/7 pro in .40 a sa 1911 loaded, and a XD 9mm which just had major malfunction might be getting rid of it depending on what the gunsmith/armorer says tomorrow. whatever I get will be replacing the xd. I kinda wana keep something sim caliber just because but was leaning to .22 so i can shoot more. I was even considering the misquito until I read everyone bad mouthing em so blah.

The XD is the glock for people who dislike glocks. I'm one of them. Tried so hard to like them.....just can't. The XD is a great platform and not crazy expensive even in this panic induced market.

Walther P22 or Glock19 might suit your needs.

If you don't own a .22 - then do yourself a huge favor and get yourself a .22! I can go on and on about how much fun they are, but you really have to experience owning one to understand. Hours and hours of fun, for a very small amount of money spent on ammo. Not only is ammo cheap, but the guns can be inexpensive as well. You can get a VERY nice lightly used buckmark for under $400 quite often.

The other gun I think everyone should own is a .357 revolver. You get the best of all worlds. You can plink around with soft shooting .38, or get serious about defense, or even hunting, with full power .357. Revolvers can be a fun change of pace if you are used to shooting Autos, and they make great camping/hiking guns if you were so inclined. A good .357 also makes a hell of a nightstand gun.

In my opinion, the absolute 100% best value out there for .357 revolvers is the now discontinued (but still prolific on the used market) Ruger Security Six. Look them up. Completely bulletproof (no pun intended) gun. Classic ruger tough as a tank over built gun, without being as big and bulky as the newer GP100. They are also CHEAP. You can find them almost like brand new for around $300-$350.

In fact, if you looked hard enough, you could get a .357 Ruger, AND a .22 Pistol for real close to the $600 budget you had in mind.

Not trying to hijack, but can you tell me (us) about the XD malfunction?

you might want to look at the sig 2022 line...they're being heavily discounted.
also the cz sp01 is very nice....i'm really considering one myself.
                      both are 9mm

one of the women at our club shoots a jericho beautifully as well.

turners has a base springfield armory 1911 that also fits your price range...it is a .45acp however

I think these are all in your price range.

                        The S&W M&P makes a fine pistol in your price range in 9mm, .40 S&W, & ,45.

I own 3 of them, and have never had a malfunction.

I you do your due dilligence on the Buckmark, it is a good gun, but internally has a lot of plastic parts, in the trigger mechanism, as I remember.

I think the Ruger MK II and MK III have more aftermarket and all metal internals.

You know you're not going to stop buying guns, so simply pick the one that excites you the most right now. Which one do you want to shoot? Which one will you take out as soon as you get it? Which one do you dream about?

If nothing gets you worked up more than another, just wait until something sparks.

Why are you going to a smith? Send it to Springer. They'll fix or replace it.

If you want a awesome high quality 9mm, I highly recommend the Sig 2022. You can find them for under $500 online.

If your looking for a revolver I too will recommend a .357, personally love the Ruger GP100 w/ 4 inch barrel. If you look around they can be had for around $600 OTD.
I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!
