I have a few questions about CCWs. First let me say that I checked out that CCW website but I didnt see specific information in my county's thread. My first question is what is the probability of getting a CCW in my county (I live in Kern county). My second question is what types of reasons should one use, as I dont think I just want one would work. Any thoughts???

In Kern county - 100%. You are golden..... As one member pointed out before sheriff department in Kern county practically prints CCWs on milk cartons...
sigpicThe essence of Western civilization is the Magna Carta, not the Magna Mac. The fact that non-Westerners may bite into the later has no implications for their accepting the former.
S.P. Huntington.
EDIT 2020: To be fair that seems to apply to many Westerners also.Comment

No, CCW is not golden in kern county. I have a perfect record, a great reason, and a utah CCW and i did not get it. My age (22) is what hurt me. SGT Lee (the one that reads the application) is a pompus jerk who should not have a job. He won't talk to you and he does not care.Originally posted by mblatIn Kern county - 100%. You are golden..... I would apply saying you own a business and transport money. (just get a home business license or a free BOE tax id as proof) you also travel to LA late at night in the kern canyon with no cell reception...unless your job allows you to have a good reason.
Don't full out lie but bend the truth as these CCW laws are unconstituational. Do whatever it takes to get it. Sometimes it takes drastic measures to regain your rights.Comment

Well here are the facts: 1 I have a clean record. 2 I live up in the Tehachapi mountains. 3: I work 4 12hr shifts a week starting at 1500 down in shafter. I am a direct supervisor of over 80 people. 3 : I am in my 30's. I still cant think of a good reson to put down on the app.Last edited by Thrillbilly; 11-20-2006, 5:28 PM.Comment

Nothing is 100% except for death and taxes, so if you are inarticulate during the interview or not creative enough to figure out your "good cause" for the issuance of a CCW, do not expect to get one. That said, Kern Co. is a very good county to live in if one desires a CCW.Comment

You should run these reasons by the folks at californiaccw.org. You'll get an honest appraisal there, and maybe some good suggestions on how to improve your pitch?Originally posted by ThrillbillyWell here are the facts: 1 I have a clean record. 2 I live up in the Tehachapi mountains. 3: I work 4 12hr shifts a week starting at 1500 down in shafter. You have 2 chances of getting a CCW in LA county - slim and none, unless you are a big name in the movie industry or a judge. LA County has (I think) 200 (more or less) CCWs for the entire county.Comment

There are only a little over 4000 approved ccw applications in Kern County...how many reside in the county? Believe it or not, Kern County leads the state in CCW approvals, followed by Fresno County. Just read it in an article the other day, if I can find it again, ill post a link.Comment

They don't do an interview in Kern co....Originally posted by kantstudienNothing is 100% except for death and taxes, so if you are inarticulate during the interview or not creative enough to figure out your "good cause" for the issuance of a CCW, do not expect to get one. I have mine here in Kern....
I just said I travel with firearms on a frequent basis...and want to be able to protect them and prevent them from falling into criminal hands.Comment

From what the paper quoted the other day, he views carrying as a priveledge and not a right. He also stated some things regarding the old ways regarding CCWs and the city/county annexation, basically it didn't give me warm fuzy feelings of a person's chances if you are in the city and applying with the Sheriff Dept.Comment
