    What documentation needed?

I got a call from my wife this morning She stopped by the local gun shop decided to buy buy a Glock 19, she had orignaly wanted a a Springfield XD compact of which they had one. She handled the Springfield and realized she didn't like the grip didn't fit her. They offered her the G19 and she really liked how it fit her so it looks like she is adding her first Glock to her stable.

So my question is how mush documentation does she need? She went in with her DL, GSC, and a power bill. I thought that would be enough but apparently is not yet I seem to remember her using the same when she bought her Ruger sp101 without issue.

Is her DL a REAL ID? If not she needs passport or birth cert. If she has old school DL (not FLA) then technically it is legit but some FFL will only take REAL ID now. They should have told her what documentation was missing or lacking.

I use an old style DL with a passport card and car registration. You either need a real ID or regular DL with passport or birth certificate. Then 1 more document showing current address. Power bill, car reg, mortgage or rental agreement.

If you do not have a bill with an address, there are a few other things that will suffice. Vehicle registration is one.

No docs with po box. Those are useless.

Vehicle registration more than likely has their PO Box also, I know mine does.

The issue is the PO Box, which doesn't work for the DOJ. Things that should substitute for an utility bill: a property tax statement from the county, your mortgage bill, income taxes or voters registration. Call the store and confirm to avoid any surprises during pickup.

That is a long story with much unneeded info.
When the shop says they need another form of document, they also say BECAUSE ............!
                        What did they say??
There must have been something wrong with the docs she presented.

Plenty of explanation and possibilities mentioned above about what was not in order, but they are all guesses.

Like the OP, we use a PO box. Before I bought my most two recent guns, I went to AAA and had them add my residence address to my vehicle reg along with the PO box address. That, along with my old style DL and FSC was all that was required by the LGS. My DL has only my PO box address.

Since the OP's lady has the old style DL, an "official" copy of her birth cert will work, too.

I agree that confirming with the store which docs are required is a very good idea.

It is indeed unfortunate that various stores have different doc requirements. It would be great if everyone standardized in order to prevent the rampant confusion. I get it that the shops want to be extra careful--getting crosswise with DOJ, especially with the new law passed recently regarding fines for minor errors, just makes things more difficult for all of us. </end minor rant>

As others have said. If her DL says "Federal Limits Apply" then she needs additional documentation. Perhaps her SP101 was bought using the "older" license?

All IDs/proof of residency must have the same name (her's) and address. No PO Box. My DL and address use Unit/Apt A, but my electric bill has Unit/Apt 1. My Electric bill is a no go since the address is technically different. I use my cable bill. Bills must be from last 3 months
