    Tip your gunsmith

Finally got around to finishing a few add-ons and ended up polishing rather than satin finish or brushed.

    Before:

    After:

Last was to trade the palm swell grip safety, hands loosing some cushion and that spot would bother me after 200rds.
Chose the Smith & Alexander .220 radius https://www.smithandalexander.com/gripsafety.html
Did not buy jig, frame is already .220
This is not plug and play, had to fit to frame and polish.
Easy enough to do but very time consuming.
What you start with:............................................. .................................................. ...............................Fitted and polished

1st was to remove ILS went with a cheaper off brand magwell, was not sure if I wanted.

2nd was to install thin grips, same off brand because the kit had grip bushings and screws.

3rd install Wilson Combat one piece guide rod.

Made a soft shooter even softer.....
Always looking for small projects on 1911 have another to tinker with.
Any other suggestions will be much appreciated.

Big thanks to MosinVirus and his videos.
Not in his house but slowly building up my ability.
Missed the boat for a home build...Frigin California

Will let the real gunsmiths do the hard stuff.
Have no idea how they make money.
    True craftsman and under appreciated.

Very nice if I didn't get my grip safety coated I'd polish it out like yours.

Great look with two tone, really like that you kept slide flats brushed chrome.
          Makes the serrations stand out.
What trigger did you add ?
Is that the Dawson Precision front sight?

Decided to keep my other one stock and brush finish the grip safety to match slide and controls.
Still took a few hours to smooth out before brushing.
Had a small void and multiple flat spots.

Tipping a specialized service provider is part of building good business relationships. That’s going to distinguish you between a good client that your service provider treats well vs. a customer that he wants to just get the stuff out the door and done with.

Wanted a new trigger so figured will stay with the polished look.
Love the style of "Colt Gold Cup National" trigger.
Picked this up, low friction in black so easy to see what metal I was taking off.
Wanted to keep face parallel but the way it was machined it would of exposed trigger bow mount.

                Installed and very smooth.

Had to bend the 2 tangs on the bow so it would not have "slop"
                    Minimal adjustment needed.
Otherwise it would just move forward/reward slightly.
Has the same amount of vertical movement as the factory.
                    Will say it feels smoother.
Trigger does not rub on frame.
Will test it Sunday in the backyard, finished a little late today.

Almost purchased that trigger but wanted to try a trigger machined with a inset to not drag on frame.
How much fitting on that Nighthawk trigger?
                    Nice looking 1911
