Does anyone have one of these pistols? If you do, what do you think about it? the reviews are good all around. I want to hear from the actual user in this group. Is $2,749 a good price? Is it worth the price?

Wilson Combat EDC X9

No experience but I have been wanting one since it first came out.
Unfortunately, all the prices seem to be around $4.5k due to the off-roster premium. If you can get it for under $3k, I would jump at the chance. -
ITS THE BEST PISTOL I HAVE EVER SHOT. For $2749 that is a steal, I shot this gun about 2 months ago. I have experience shooting almost every type of polymer gun, many different 1911’s, a colt python, CZ, Beretta etc. and to me, the EDCX9 is the best I have ever shot by far. So I’m no pistol expert but what astonished me was the recoil. I have a Springfield 1911 9mm that has similar feeling recoil but the EDCx9 felt like it had an electronic charge in it, mitigating the recoil. Some have said that is the shok-buff. An implantation that many disagree with. Anyway, enough of my drooling. I have ranted about its greatness before but I see this the perfect time to tell you how I envy the chance you have. If you don’t want it, I will try to make that deal
now where is it? Lol Also, I can put you in touch of the owner of the EDCx9 if you’d like. He is my CCW instructor. He has over 100 pistols, no joke. And his daily carry and favorite gun is the EDCx9.

I've shot one before. It was very nice...and I've always admired them from afar. Looking at the Wilson combat website is always torture.
But thanks to our lame gun roster, its kind of a unicorn gun. I'm not a big fan of off roster premiums, but if you found a nice one that was set up how you would like, I would say go for it. Currently If I was was to spend $2.7K, I would hesitate and maybe keep saving up for ANOTHER 1911...maybe a nighthawk. I'm currently set with a Les Baer and a Springfield custom....but there's always room for one more 1911.
If you are in the $4K + range, go for 1911 and screw the EDC X9..it ain't that specialComment

"Is it worth it?" is a pretty subjective question with a pretty subjective answer. But, for $2,749 just get it. I'm assuming you are either exempt or are doing family transfer, so you can actually get it at that price. Even if you don't like it later after giving it an earnest try, you can sell it for double what you paid for it (and people who complain about pricing tend to get banned, which is a comfortable position to be in as a seller).
They are basically Wilson's take on a doublestack 9mm 1911 in nature. Unlike 2011s they use a proprietary magazine, but unlike 2011s their magazines aren't finnicky, and don't need to be "tuned." There's even a 9mm AR-platform carbine that Wilson makes that takes their X9/X9L magazines, if you want to expand your collection that way later on. I'd opt for their flat trigger, I love how their flat trigger is ergonomically. Not just a sharp milled square, but nicely contoured and profiled.

tl;dr - Somewhat expensive but nice compact. If you want to know what one feels like in your hand, hold a Wilson Combat P320 grip module. Forum members will tell you that all 9mm guns should be a Glock 19, though.Last edited by LateBraking; 09-20-2020, 10:48 AM.sigpic

No.
Yes.
I mean, other than family transfer and if you're an exempt-class citizen (law enforcement), but if you're asking this question then I safely assume that you're not. As far as ordering from Wilson Combat goes, you're either police/a citizen of the 49 United States, or you're not.Last edited by LateBraking; 09-20-2020, 12:44 PM.sigpic

I have been eyeing EDC X9 for a very long time and that pistol will be the first thing I will buy when I move to another state. Never shot one though. That gun will probably retire all my 9mm CZs which is a shame because I love CZ. $2,749 is a stupidly good price in my opinion. Good luck!Comment

I’ve put a few magazines of ammo through one, a very good shooter as you’d expect from WC. Beautiful gun that works as good as it looks, a little on the bulky side and somewhat heavy for a cancelled carry gun for some people.
I’d love to own one some day, but honestly I don’t think I’d carry it over my G48 with Shield Arms 15 round mags. Much thinner and lighter carry gun with the same capacity.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

Dimensionally the concealed carry gun they make would probably be more the EDC X9S. I've confirmed firsthand that EDC X9L magazines fit in both EDC X9 and X9L. The EDC X9 magazines should fit in the X9L if you remove the L's magazine funnel. I'm pretty sure the S magazines dont fit the other EDC X Wilsons/Wilson AR9 though, due to its small/short magazine size, so I guess that's probably a con. Maybe the X9 and X9L mags fit but jut out a bunch? I've yet to see an X9S on sale in CA, off-roster tax or no.I’ve put a few magazines of ammo through one, a very good shooter as you’d expect from WC. Wonder if there is any way to get the X9 or X9L to be a bit thinner like the X9S, I would imagine grip panels, except the S panels would be too short for either the 9 or the 9L. G48 would be definitely thinner no matter what, but that was initially conceptualized as a single stack firearm, even though Shield Arms has since developed a functional doublestack magazine for it. Dunno if others care about mag compatibility that much, but I hate collecting a "variety" of magazines. Most of what I own take Glock or 1911 magazines, hence why I think about what magazine is compatible with what. (See, I don't hate Glocks in the least. I just think the modern-day culturally-fed religious fanaticism over the brand name with willing blindness to its potential for failure like any other firearm (i.e. internet "meme culture") is excessive. Glocks work, and so do many other guns, until they don't, like other guns.)

Yeah I’ve never seen or handled one in person either, I’d personally be more interested in the regular EDC X9.
