Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I have a gently used Kimber Custom II (approx. 3,000 rds). Where are you, and how much can you afford?

I'd favor the Springfield GI as the absolute cheapest 1911 .45 personally, but take a look at Rock Island as well.

            +1

Agreed on the SA 1911, I just bought one. If you've got a couple extra $$ go with the mil spec, nicer sights, larger extraction port, and a couple other things.
I'll bet you have more than 2k worth of guns and I'll bet you have no insurance coverage for them. PM me for help in protecting your investment for only a couple of bucks per year.

My RIA was >$300 new when I bought it a few years ago. After a couple thousand rounds I haven't had any problems with it.

I really like the SA G.I. model. I got it for about $425 a few years ago, I think they're $550-$600 now.
I put in heavier springs and replaced the main spring housing to get rid of the Integrated locking system.

I love my CZ 97B. Tight, accurate, all metal construction and a 10 round mag. Sweet!! reasonably priced too!

If you open up your options past 1911s, as kozelnik listed a 97B, you have a whole lot of affordable .45s to consider.

S&W M&Ps, SA XD, G21, USP, FNP. All those are well under $2000.

SA 1911...or did you consider a Glock 21 or SA XD45? All good choices.

RIA 1911s are great. Most are Series 70 spec so the triggers aren't half bad :-)

For less than $650 I like the CZ 97B best, just because I've had experience with it. Heard nothing but good things about SA 1911's as a great bargain tho...

Wow...were are CZ 97B's selling for under $650? I've only seen them for much more than that.

Would love to have a 97B in addition to a decent 1911.
