I'm adding a new pistol to my stable and was thinking about it either being an H&K or a CZ (that unfortunately has to be on the CA Roster). If you were only going to add one to your collection, which company and model would you choose? Take into consideration which one would you like better and which one would be worth the price. Also, understand that I already have SIGs, Glocks, and Berettas, so I'm not looking to add any more of those right now. Thanks!

I'm somewhat of an HK fanboy, so my opinion is biased. I've considered buying a CZ, but have never really been compelled to do so. Overall, I like the location and operation of the controls better on the HK's, and I love the HK's magazine release. I think all my guns should have this. I'm also sold on the HK LEM trigger. I've switched over all my HK's. I think it's especially sensible on a carry gun.
You didn't say what you wanted the gun for. If you intend to carry it, then I recommend the P2000SK. If it's a range/bedside gun, and you're looking at a 9mm, then the P2000. If you're a .45 sort of guy, USP Compact. The compact is still a pretty big gun, and I like the size no matter what I'm using it for. -
Got at USP 45 Expert (5 inch barrel) two years ago. really like shooting that gun. with the recoil spring set up is shoot really soft. the trigger is pretty good double/single action. Not as good as a good 1911, but good. It is a big gun though.
Really want a Dan Wesson (CZ) DWX, but not available yet and NOT ON ROSTER ugh.Comment

That's really good feedback on the HK, RustyIron. I'm looking for another 9mm for range/bedside use. Maybe another option for me for carry down the road. I have a SIG 45 I like already. That Dan Wesson DWX looks very cool, tmorse. Why don't you let me know when that makes it onto the roster. Ha, ha.Even though I'm a resident of California, I can still dream...

Both good gear but completely different frame shapes. IMO, your best bet is to go with the one that fits your hand better.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

If you are asking this question you do not deserve the CZ.

I have several CZ’s and 0 HK’s... so, I’m obviously partial to the CZ. Personally I’d say go with a P01"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them" - Richard Henry Lee

for roster options then I'd pick the CZ SP-01 all day long. Shadow 2 if you want to go off roster. otherwise the SP-01 is simply sublime... it's balanced, accurate and ergonomically superior to the HK IMO... and if you send it to cajun gunworks for some customization it'll be up there with most competition 9mm handguns.Comment
