Speedloader brands

5-Star is another brand to check out. The ones that I've seen are twist to release but unlike the HKS models they are made from billet aluminum or possibly billet aluminum with a little bit of steel in the areas that hold the rounds in place.
That means that they are also lightweight like the plastic ones but can take a beating like being dropped or stepped on just in case you're running drills, running and gunning or dropping them on the carpet.

Best ones I own. Class up your lane at the range with a set of these.

HKS is my brand

I am looking for 6 and 7 round speedloaders for S&W 686's. Is any brand considered better than the others?

I'm getting back into revolvers again and went back to my tried and true HKS brand. I'd rather twist the knob to release the ammo myself.

In the past I've also tried Safariland speed loaders in which you push the rear button to release the ammo. I admit when I tried to release the ammo the button was hard to push to release you net load! In some cases I pushed so hard to get it to release the ammo I felt I almost broke the speed loader.

Personally if you getting into the revolvers like I am I'd try one of each and see what you prefer. Just because I like one one brand doesn't mean you will.
My preference is HKS hands down BUT that's me.

HKS rules the world IMHO.

Been using them for over 40 years.
