I'm looking for a Walther

Like the title says, I'm looking for a Walther P99. Yes I saw James Bond, that's why I want it . Where is a place I can go in Marin County or the Nort Bay in general for one of these, under $550 new? I can just get one shipped from Bud's Gun Shop for 520 so it would have to be around that price. Thanks to anyone who responds.

I saw the movie too. I really liked it. Concerning the P99 though, if you want the one used in the movie, you'll need to get a P99AS with a date code of AC or earlier. It looks like this:

So you're saying it should look like the QA but say AS? You've got me confused.

Well the one Bond has been using since Tomorrow Never Dies, is the P99 AS. The AS stands for Anti Stress (or something like that). The AS can be fired in single action, double action, and "anti stress" action. the P99 AS acts like a DA/SA hammer gun. The P99QA is more like a glock. If you pull the trigger and the gun does not go bang, then you'll have to rack the P99 QA. If you pull the trigger of a P99 AS and the gun does not go bang, you can pull it again in double actgion mode.

In 2003 (or was it 04?) Walther changed the design of the P99. It now looks like the QA version pictured above. However, the Bond series kept the original look. Underworld kept the original look too when they came out with Underworld Evolution.

Personally, I like the look of the original P99 more.

If you want a pre-2004 P99, you can still find them new, but your shopping ground needs to be the entire country, not your local gun stores. What they will carry, in terms of new P99s, will be those currently being made, which are the new-style, with new frame, and new slide. Both use the same magazines, and the same sights. In terms of which is better, they both are.

But, I do suggest AS over QA in terms of its trigger. The AS trigger gives you a smooth and crisp SA trigger, with an incredibly short, crisp, and distinct reset, exceeded only by a well-tuned 1911. You get neither with the QA trigger. Pre-2004 P99 QAs have "QA" written on the slide. Pre-2004 P99 ASes have only "P99" written on the slide. Those made in 2004 and later have "AS" engraved on the slide. I own eight P99s, two of which are Compacts, and all are AS versions.

Superb pistol. City Arms in Pacifica stocks the current ones.

I had a nice two-tone P99, 2004 model. I just sold it for $400. I have seller's remorse though. That gun fit my hand the best and it was very accurate.

I found a picture of Bond's P99 and it seems that the tirgger guard is different (no hump), the slide release is different, the ejection port is different, and there is no picatinny rail.

Small cosmetic differences don't bother me too much; it's essentially the same gun. I kind of like the looks of the new AS in the photo above than the old one, I think I'll get one of those.

Go find Nelson (45R). He's usually on SIGForum. He had an older one with OD frame for sale. Pristine.

From the Manufacturer Item it looks like that is the AS model which is still on the DOJ list (http://www.lisc.net/walther.htm). You may want to call and confirm. I googled and found this guy who is less expensive:
