Kimber Eclipse 10mm to 9mm conversion (SUCCESS)

Just in case anyone wanted to try this. Come back from the range and it worked great! This is the Kimber Eclipse Custom II chambered in 10mm, I converted it to 9mm.

Took a 19# mainspring, 12# recoil spring, and new barrel. I had to hand fit the barrel with filing, sanding, and lots of hand cycling. Went to the range and had some cycling issues. So I drenched it in oil and it cycled perfectly. Locks up tight and has very little recoil. The spring is still breaking in. Put 125rds in.

Interesting. I have the Eclipse II 10mm - which barrel brand did you get & where?

FWIW, I did similar with a Springfield 1911 in 9mm and a 38 Super barrel. Just for the fun of it. Going from 10 to 9 makes economic sense, and no need to crawl about looking for brass.

could this be accomplished with an Ultra Carry II .45?

      that would be sweet...

Find any FS 5" 9mm barrel with Wilson/Nowlin ramp. I have been getting my barrels custom made match grade stainless steel from Fusion but I bet there are a lot around if you look. Good luck!

The ejector would need to be swapped out for a longer one.
Then just get a new barrel, possibly bushing, recoil spring and mainspring.
Make sure you get the correct type of ramp for your new barrel.

The awesome thing about a 1911, is that it can be modded. It's the perfect shell for tinkering with IMO

They a great, quick turnaround, high quality barrel. A bit sharp so you can sand and fit it yourself. Tyler Serva respond to all emails and was great. I bought all my springs from them. They also helped me make a 38 super, 9mm, and 380 convertible 1911 =)

Did you do anything to the extractor?

Any reason to do this other than get a 9mm gun?
While it is nice you can do this it is not like it's a easy swap back and forth at the range type conversion.

Nope, same extractor is used for both 10mm and 9mm

Good job. Now you need to get a 38 Super barrel.
