Building 80% Glock Lower. Serial Number?

I already own a Glock 19 G3 (factory build). I wanted to build a 80% G19 lower from this product -

This site also offers an engraving service for the serial number. Do I just give my current Glock 19 serial number to get engraved onto this lower?

What's the legality involved around this. 80percent arms makes it seem like it's legal. But, I wanted to ask the guys who actually live in the state and may have done this.

It can be built, but not as a semi auto. Roster would have to apply.

I like their stuff, but have you been to the storefront? I mean, fly by night comes to mind. NTTAWWT. Anyway, I bought an 80% 9mm lower from them before I realized I couldn't build in Ca. Luckily, I have a condo in Mesa.

Also, you have to apply for a serial number from DOJ before doing anything, and I believe you have to figure out how to have an integral 3.7oz steel insert for the serial number.

Basically, while it's not technically impossible to make a new 80% polymer pistol*, it's practically impossible.

It would have to be built as a single shot and to that I say "for what"? You cant legally build it into semi-auto because its not on the roster. Your 80% Glock lower is nothing more than a paper weight. No use in even keeping it really

Someone needs to do one of those locked breech single shot uppers for Glocks - you know like that one Magnum Research has for a while. I could go for a single shot Glock in .30-30 or 7.62x39? Could easily do a single shot roster exempt build with something like that.

Well you aren't being very creative - single shot means you have a nice empty mag well just waiting to be filled

I like your creative thinking here, but the 3.7 ounces of 17-4 Stainless Steel has to be embedded in the plastic upon fabrication. You can't just add it to the magazine well.

Rick, I think I've figured out a way to get around the insert. Come back April 1st and I'll give you my answer.
