Upgrade trigger pull weight.

Hello my friends. My apology for the simple question.

Is it legal to upgrade trigger pull weight from stock spring (about 24 lb) to aftermarket "Armory Craft" 19 lb main spring? In case if I shoot intruder in my house, will I have problems with upgrade of my Sig P226 before the California Law?
Also, currently I have the CCW Safe Home Defense Plan. Will I lose my cover with the CCW Safe service if I upgrade my gun's main hammer spring weight?

It’s legal. The weight of your trigger is not what will be scrutinized in a shooting unless you volunteer that you didn’t mean to pull the trigger. If you are comfortable with that, go ahead and upgrade the tigger.

I cannot speak to your insurance though.

This is a recurring topic that comes up every few weeks. If it's a carry gun, you need to make sure your IA doesn't have a policy on it. After that it is completely debatable.

Some experts, like Massad Ayoob, don't recommend it. Yet, there don't appear to be a ton of cases where lightening your trigger was the actual deciding factor that turned a good shoot into a bad shoot. Obviously if you've lightened your trigger and "ND" into a bad guy, that's not going to go well for you in court.

Could an aggressive prosecutor in a criminal trial, or a money hungry attorney in a civil trial go after you for lightening your trigger? Sure. But you have to decide how you feel about this, whether or not you believe a good attorney can counter the argument, and whether the reward of a better trigger and improved accuracy are worth the risk to you.

Mega FUD. There don't appear to be ANY cases where trigger pull turned a good shoot into a bad shoot. You are either in fear of death or great physical harm to your self and/or others, or you are not.

Why are you in a criminal trial after a good shoot? Logic fails.
