    RMR for M&P Shield 9mm

Just purchased a NIB M&P Shield 9MM, looking to have a RMR installed. Anyone out there have any insight/experience? If so, who did you purchase from and who did the gunsmithing? I'm in the Riverside County area.

I know that a shield RMSc has been mounted in the past. I can’t remember who did the work

You might want to wait until more people have their hands on the holosun 507k which has a smaller footprint than an rmr or the 507c

I imagine ATEI should be able to mill it since they work on a lot of m&p’s

rmr is too wide for the skinny shield, the hole placement says so. You will have to get one of the smaller micro dots. and find someone to mill your slide to that.

I wasn't sure on the RMR, and honestly know little about them. I do remember reading about a smaller platform, but couldn't remember where. I'll do some research as well.

I do appreciate the responses though, hopefully others will chime in as well. I'm looking forward to the project!

These guys can mill out your slide for a shield RMSc (no affiliation with them): https://www.mapleleaffirearms.com/s-...mm-40s-w-only/

If you have a loaded chamber indicator on your shield that might be an issue for slide milling.

I had my Sig P365 done by Maple Leaf Firearms for a Holosun 507K. Fit and finish are great.

IIRC, the Shield is not durable. Look for a video review by Sage Dynamics. Holosun 507K looks promising. It has a pretty robust metal frame around the lens.

In the coming days you'll probably have the peanut gallery show up here to trash Holosun for being Chinese made. Ignore the FUDD. Even their first generation of products have held up. You've also got lots of popular guntubers who fired thousands of collective rounds with various Holosun products. All with positive reviews.

              I have a 507c on a semi-auto 12 gauge and have had no issues.

Plastic housing. And possibly plastic lens as well. Not saying that's a bad thing for a carry gun. Should be fine if it never gets dropped.

In this article, the most common footprints/mounting standards used on red dot sights are listed. Each standard is described and an image of it is added.

Save the money and hassle, master the iron sites. You will void warranty with milling the slide.

Thanks to all who have replied thus far, much appreciated! Yes, I remember reading a thread or two regarding the Holosun optic, some liked it, some didn't. To each each is own I guess.

Regarding the S&W warranty issue if I mill the slide. I figured if I end up getting a mill job I'll buy another slide and not have the original one milled.

Yes, I probably could just use the factory iron sights and call it a day! But I've never done any upgrades to any firearms I've owed, I thought this would be a good time to start, LOL!

To those that provided pictures, nice work for sure. I'll check out the links you all have provided and continue on this journey, going to fun!!!!

One other thing I wanted to mention, I noticed with the optic that the rear sight is gone (unless my vision is bad, hahahahaha). I was hoping to have the rear sight co-witness through the optic, but maybe there's not enough real estate on the Shield to do so.

On the Holosun, there is a "built in" rear iron site, but it does sit higher than the stock rear sight. I would assume many of the other RDSs have something similar. You can see it here.
