Dot Torture is a good starting point on where your deficiencies are at from a marksmanship perspective. You'll get feedback on what your dry fire regiment is doing for you.
Since your range doesn't allow for it just do it from the low ready. You can also do this at home with your dry fire setup.sigpic

on the Dot Torture... This is my maintenance drill... If you can only afford 50-rds per range session - I would go with this drill. And NO! Do NOT skip the SHO and WHO shooting.
Also, instead of starting from low ready, you can also start from the #3 position of a 5-step draw (retention, for some). This will simulate part of the holster draw and should help you develop your index to target ("see the target with the eyes, gun moves to the target").

For additional stuff - you can check out the Competition/Training sub-forums... Lots of very talentend shooters out there!
And if you are willing to part with $67 - you can try Mike Seeklander's program (both LIVE and DRY fire).... Also, with help that you don't end up with 'training scars' from practicing incorrectly, etc.
He is the IDPA National Champion for 2018 and 2019, and constantly does FB Live stream for IDPA HQ:

What you are excellent at... a few drills to keep you maintained
What frustrates you, work on that.
Just like fighting with fists, feet and clubs- protect yourself. Block and more importantly- move.
If you can outdoors, shoot while moving
Move in circles
Picture a person behind a car door- circle around them while shooting and hitting
Move in straight lines- think hallways
Move sideways
— standard thought- you are 100% responsible for holes you but in yourself and others - I suggest classes and formal instruction.
Too many folks shoot themselves coming into and out of the holster
Then add dynamic movement while moving through count 1-4

Look up drills: here on Calguns, inter web, you tube
Write them out
Add to a binder
Flip through drills before and at the range to find drills to practice.Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Physical fitness coordination skills should be practiced frequently and outside of the range 99.9% of the time.
Physical fitness is physical fitness. Shooting is shooting. Don't get distracted with the Run & Gun, yet.
Make the targets bigger and move them in closer is our motto. Yeah. Right.
Adherence to basic firearms safety rules; learn the 4 principles of marksmanship and basic gun handling skills.Last edited by hambam105; 08-01-2020, 12:27 PM.Comment

The best drills are the ones that challenge your abilities as a shooter. Work on what needs working on and recap what you’re best at.Comment
