    Uberti Cattleman

Looking at buying a Uberti Cattleman Hombre in .45 Colt. Anyone here have any experience with these? Look cool as heck. Thanks.

I like the Patron model. Just personal preference.

I considered the Cattleman in Charcoal Blue but got the EMF Deluxe Grande Californian instead.

I had Pietta 38/357 SAA 5" barrel replica, shoot about more than 1K rds nothing wrong with it. Uberti and Pietta are both from Italy. 45 Colt heh ! that's expensive ammo, you must reload so you can shoot that gun weekly.

If you want the gun that won the West, then you have only two choices, the real one cost couple thousands to hang on the wall, or the replica one cost couple hundred to shoot. Somebody said the Uberti is better than Pietta , that is their opinion, but I am happy with my Pietta. Those old design gun is liked 1911 you know how to dis/re assembly one you know them all, one of the old timer tell me that all the part old SAA replica are the same liked 1911.

Yes, I do handload, so no problem there. And to the above poster with the Colt, damn, that is one mighty fine gun! Nice! Also looking at EMF 's. They look pretty good also.

I’d like to know which ones have the different safeties; transfer bar, extended cylinder pin, etc.

Had a Traditions SAA made by Pietta and sold it.
Realized that narrow and short trigger was actually rather uncomfortable to shoot.
Used to the wider triggers of the Ruger single-action revolvers, so that thin trigger was not as comfortable or easy - plus the SAA triggers are also slightly offset where they protrude from the bottom of the frame.

I recommend checking out an SAA or an SAA clone before spending your $'s to make sure it's what you want.

That said - I do recommend the 45LC caliber because since the bore size is larger, the width of the steel remaining in the barrel is thinner - hence the 45LC revolvers balance better.
If you go with .357, there is still a lot of thickness to the barrel and they feel more barrel heavy.

                  Hope this helps a bit...

Its a beautiful and honest homage to the Colt SSA. I have one I have fired once (to make sure it goes bang). It sounds better than it looks...love the 4 clicks

Also now need to add the "3 click" safety most often found on "traditional" single action revolvers. I suppose it's the most like a traditional 4 click, still don't care for it. Fortunately switching out the hammer and clipping the lifter on the trigger is a cure.

A basic review - Ruger, Beretta, Freedom Arms use a transfer bar system. Pietta uses 4 clicks with the extended cylinder pin, again easily replaced with a standard one. USFA, Colt and Standard use traditional, although Colt & USFA had transfer bar models - the Cowboy and the Rodeo. Uberti does the traditional and 3 click. American Western was traditional.

The Beretta Stampede is an interesting mix. 3 solid clicks but a transfer bar. I have a Bisley in 357 and it's a great shooter. Pretty faithful to the Colt, even Colt grips fit it without much fitting.

I have two Gunfighters in 45 Colt and one Smoke Wagon in .357 magnum that are Taylor's/Uberti. They're all fine guns and I'm very happy with them. I do not have any SA replicas by Pietta so I can't compare.

Freedom Arms uses the transfer bar system on the model 97, the model 83 uses a hammer block system and is a 4-click action.

Uberti and Piettas are closest clones known to me.
All new Uberti Prewar Frame are 3 click with new firing pin safety.
Cimarron Old Model BP Frame with cylinder screw and some Pietta are 4 click. If it matters to you. The other price differences are mostly degree of tuning( Evil Roy and Smoke Wagon) and finishes.
