    Improving Sig P238 Trigger?

I have a custom level 1911 with 4 to 4.5 lbs trigger that is just glassy crisp. It's a pleasure. My wife just picked up the P238. The trigger is noticeably heavier and have some creep.

Questions: How would I improve the trigger on the P238? And can it get close to a very nice 1911 trigger? And is the work something that someone who is mechanically inclined but have never worked on a gun be able to do this - or do I need to send it to a gunsmith?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I can't address changing the trigger pull weight but I will mention that the trigger itself, specifically the lower limb is quite sharp and has been known to actually draw blood from at least one calgunner. Mine only only took me to the quite painful level but that was enough to correct it by filing/rounding it off. Being that the trigger is made of plastic the process took little time to correct. I wrapped the trigger guard with a couple layers of masking tape for protection then first used an emery board and finished up a steel nail file.
My P238 was an early production model-I don't know if current P238s have changed the shape or switched over to metal triggers.
      Welcome to calguns.
