I have a Walther P22 , last few times shooting I've been having alot of FTE's. I've cleaned the gun , polished the slide ramp , tried different brands of ammo. Is maybe the spring in the extractor worn out ? I don't know what else to look for. Thanks for any info.

Blowback firearms are sensitive to ammo power and chambers that are less than spotless.
Most of the extraction cycle is from the case literally being "blown back" out of the chamber.
The extractor mostly acts as a means to hold the spent case until the ejector can send it on it's way. Clean the chamber thoroughly with a bore brush like the Gunsmither pictured:

I have never has an extraction /ejection issue with my P-22, I feed it HV ammo exclusively, Blazers and Mini Mags.sigpic

I took mine to the range for the first time this week.
CCI (what it is supposedly designed for) worked flawlessly. (200 rounds)
Remington Golden Bullets - no problem (200 rounds)
Federal AutoMatch - a bit underpowered (150 rounds) approx 5 Failure to Cycle
American Eagle - 2 light primer strikes and 4 failure to ejects.
All in all - (give or take) 600 rounds and 11 failures (mostly with the usual suspects). Given that this is a range toy, I'm more than happy - especially since I have heard how picky they can be!Comment

I bought a captured recoil spring from Galloway Precision. It works well, but had no effect on reliability. The original spring works fine but is a pia.
My best advise is keep it clean and lubed. Keep the chamber clean.
Mine is very reliable with Remington 500 bulk packed ammo. This ammo has a hard black bullet coating that doesn't leave a wax build up like many others and is cheap.
Aguilla is the worst. I bought thousands of rounds a while back after much research that claimed it was top notch. It's not. Very inconsistent. There are numerous low powered rounds and it's got a heavy wax coating that gums things up rapidly. I also think that the cases seem to stick in the chamber--this gun and revolver also.Comment
