Bulgarian Makarov

Hey guys, new to the forum. Does anyone know the best way to hunt one of the Maks down for purchase (c&r eligible). I believe that'd be manufactured in 1970 or earlier. I appreciate any tips or advice. Thanks

You can put up a Want To Buy (WTB) ad here.
They show up once in a while, not often.

There have been scammers here, so meet FTF at an FFL only.
If someone messages you and says to email someone else, that is a big red flag.

If you tell us your location, someone cruising the shops may have seen one recently.

The gun has to have been manufactured 50 years ago, so to stay on the safe side go 1969 or earlier unless you can demonstrate date of manufacture.

I may know of two shops that have one. Neither shop has them up for sale.....part of personal collection of the owner. You never know....cash in hand may shake one loose. But you need to tell us your location first like stated above.

It was a 9x19. I'm pretty sure it was commercial. It came in a small cardboard box that had all of its documentation and such on it. I never fired it. I bought it at Traders in San Leandro in the '80s. And sold it on a whim when I hadn't used it in many years. Bird to the wise, never sell communist bloc firearms. They're becoming harder and harder to acquire.

You are totally right. After i posted in WTB section, i received at least 3 PMs, asked me to contact with someone else via the email. That email asked for the payment, then would ship to your FFL. Its 100% scam, because you cannot ship an off-roster firearm to a FFL.

I had the choice of a brand new NORINCO Makarov or East German

I chose the East German because it was a actual military issue piece mfg in 1962

the Chinese Makarov was a newly made export model and I didnt like the heavy marking hammered into the slide, I heard they are rare now because they stopped importation.

Well it most likely a scam, but you can ship off roster pistols if they are C & R

I appreciate the tips and advice. I'm in orange county California, I'd be willing to travel anywhere in state if someone happens to come across one for sale. Thanks again guy!

Contact a couple LGS and check with them.
