    Thems were the days.

When all that you needed to get an off roster pistol in CA was a nose job and a butt plug.

The first SSE exemptions. Convert to single-shot with a 9” barrel (or was it 6”?)

This is an example of Single Shot Exemption. It was a method of buying off roster handguns back in 2014. It is no longer available do to changes in the law. It included a barrel length requirement and a conversion to Single Shot configuration, hence the block bolted into the mag well in the picture. After taking possession of the firearm it could be converted back to semi auto configuration by the FFL or the pistols owner.

I remember walking to my car , touching it, taking legal possession of the firearm, turning around and going back into the store to return the sled

                    Good times!

Those were heady days! When it ended in 2014, that was when I decided I need to leave. It wasn't the only reason to leave, but it was one of the writings on the wall.

Toward the end on the year, one company actually let us keep the extended barrel and the zero-capacity magazine sled because there was not enough time for them to receive it and re-use it on the next customer. I wish I had kept those parts for memory's sake...

I didn't have that much disposable income, but I did it 4 or 5 times. I wish it were still around....sigh.
