Question for revolver shooter ?

Went to the range today shoot Ruger Blackhawk and ..., the guy next to my lane had both Python and SW-686. I asked him if I can handle his revolvers, he said yes, so I had a chance to compare both of Python and SW686 side by side. The weight of both are the same, the grips and handling are the same. The DA trigger pull (dry fire) for both are not impress if compare to semi, the SA for both (dry fire) are acceptable for semi. He offered me to shoot his revolvers, what a nice guy, but I courtesy refused. Because, I have no intended to buy any of those revolvers soon, but in the future, who know ?
I am a shooter, not a collector, so I have question to the revolver lovers that:
Regardless of price, availability/rarity, brand name and for 38SPL/357 Mag only.
(1) which one is shoot better ? ---- Accuracy.
(2) which one is handling better while shooting ? ---- Recoil
(3) And if you are the real revolver lovers you can throw in Ruger GP-100 and …… ? --- Something I missed.

(those are three importance things that I missed when comparing the two legendary revolvers).

I'd probably opt for a 4" S&W like a 686 or what he said ^^^

The Blackhawk is a great revolver...accurate, strong and reliable.
You really don't have to get anything else unless you want to.

Most Pythons are on their way to being expensive collector items and certainly won't last as long as the Rugers or S&W so I would skip the Python.

There are many threads about the GP100 versus the S&W 586 / 686.
Both are excellent.
The Ruger is unbreakable.
The S&W for me is better in the Plus 7 shot version given the gun's size.

You can change the grips on all of these guns to match your hands, so handling and feel is up to you.

I am a shooter, not the collector, so I have question to the revolver lovers that:

I've owned and shot a lot of rounds thru a S&W 686 & 586 as well as a Ruger GP100 & Security Six; all with 6" barrels. The 686 shot better, it has better trigger IMHO. It was also more accurate that the others. Except for the Security Six, they seem to handle about the same in my hand (factory grips).
I've never owned a Python but had handled my friend's old Python and it has an amazing action/trigger.
If I were to pick a first revolver, my choice would be a S&W K frame with 4" barrel.

I own a SP101 have shot GP100(4in & 6in) and shot S&W I have to say I like the GP100 4 inch the best. Just fits my medium hands perfect. One day i'm going to buy one.

Legacy Python has better action out of the box. Compared to the 586\686 it has a bit more accuracy.
I personally did not like the rear sight picture of the gp100.

I own a legacy Python and a 586 no dash. Both 6 inch.

For the range, get an SW.
Or the Ruger if the sights work for ya.

I also own an N frame SW. No slouch.

Or get a SW 66_1 very nice!

The S&W 586 might be easier to find and easier on the wallet. Can't speak on the Ruger.

My Smith model 29 has the best trigger pull of any hand gun I've handled both double and single action but it's not a 357.

I own and have used a number of nice Ruger, S&W, and Colt revolvers in .38/357; they have all been fine, although I believe that the Python is the weakest. HOWEVER, the absolute BEST revolver in that clambering are my two made by Korth (and Korth-Nighthawk).
Pricey, but once you use one, you will see why.

I own a legacy Python and a 686+, both with 3" barrels. I bought the Smith so that I would not put as many rounds thru my Python, which probably has more than 30,000 rounds thru it. I am really fond of my Python, but wouldn't pay today's prices for it. Both are equally accurate, although it took 2 trips back to Smith to adjust the barrel to make it shoot to the point of aim with the rear sight adjusted to the extreme right. BTW, I followed the revolver checkout meticulously before I bought the Smith. After the repairs, my barrel is now canted a bit, whereas it was straight when I bought it. Another gunsmith polished the double action which is lighter than the Python with no stacking. For the money, the Smith is good with a potential for being very good. I haven't shot a Ruger revolver, but did handle a few at the lgs. Never liked Ruger triggers dating back to the Mark III .22s.
