    Sig Legion 226 vs 229

So I have been thinking about getting a Legion and was thinking about these two. Is the only difference the 226 being full size? Would you choose the DA/SA or SAO? Why? Thanks for your input?

    default answer is preference.
-I like full size but will be okay with P229 to buy first. I enjoy shooting P229 more than P226. feels more comfortable and softer so it seems.
-da/sa is my choice because of the decocker feature. love the option to put in da when not in immediate threat but always ready to fire when needed.

to carry? Then P229. For other purposes, then P226.

And the SAO versus DA/SA is also (to some degree) a carry versus range/target shooting issue. I prefer a single manual of arms for carry guns, and do not mix and match SAO and DA/SA for carry guns. However, if it is just a range or competition gun, then SAO is superior.

This is going to be a range gun. That is why I was thinking of going with the 226 (full size). I am a bit unfamiliar with these models so I wanted to make sure that I was not missing something other than the size difference between the two. Thanks for your time.

SAO all day every day. Cause they're awesome!

Honestly though I'm not a huge fan of the two different trigger pulls that are inherent to SA/DA guns. This is purely personal preference. There are no bad choices here.

Standard CGN answer: Get both! I did and then some more.

If you can't get both then go with the P226 for range gun.

For a range gun, P226 SAO.

I have the 226 Legion SAO. The trigger is amazing, I actually prefer it over my Les Baer 1911. I bought it for range use and not carry, so I went with the SAO, no regrets. It's an awesome pistol, I shoot my best groups by far with it, highly recommend. Good luck.

I'll agree with the others; P226 for a range gun. The P226 Legion SAO is easily one of the best/favorite guns I own. About the only thing "wrong" with it is the slide release. It's a little hard to get at, so it's something to think about if you like using the release a lot.

I prefer my legion 226 over my legion 229 but that is without consideration for carrying. Both are great and I can't imagine you'd be disappointed with either.

I snagged those two and a 220 all in one transaction and they are all DA/SA. I'd love to find a SAO at a reasonable price but for the time being I'll have to make do. Good luck
