First Gen Sig X-Series VS Second Gen

Looking for differences between the two generations of these guns

Sig referred to the lower pistol as the Sig P226 X5 Enhanced. Here is a blurb about the differences that I copied from Osage guns.

I used to own a X5 Enhanced Tactical 40 S&W. It was a cool looking gun, much like the one in the lower picture, but all blacked out.

I have a first gen and "enhanced" X5 Allround model. Both are in 9mm.

They feel very similar. Sights, trigger, recoil is all identical. If I close my eyes and operate it dry then the only way I can feel the difference is that the "enhanced" has a more aggressive cut under the trigger guard. Racking the slide also gives it away due to the different textures they used.

The second gen is slightly wider in the slide so it has trouble sharing holsters made for the original.

The prices on them these days are insane. I paid $1400 for my first gen X5, and $1800 for the "enhanced". Replacing them at today's prices would be nuts.

I have 20k+ rounds through my first gen X5. It's smooth as butter. If I miss then I know it's my own mistake.

Do you have the luxury of buying one of those?!?! If I had to choose, I would buy the first one (assuming the price was close or the same). However, you cannot go wrong with either one.

And this is Calguns, so the correct answer is buy BOTH!

The enhanced seem to be a little lighter. the ergo are better for smaller hand. adjustable trigger I never messed with, but it stopped resetting after 1k round. warranty work to repair it was about a month.
I did took it to a steel plate match, made me feel like i'm cheating. the pistol is that good.
Too bad Sig Germany where these are made is shutting down.

You SAO or you don't waste your time, when it comes to Master Shop guns.

Back in the good old days of SSE, I had... well, most things.

I had an X5 Tac, which was marketing BS compared to my X5 L1. The Master Shop SAO trigger was worth the premium (at retail prices or thereabouts, anyway).

Now the Master Shop is gone, SSE is gone, sadly. But I won't ever sell my X5.

I do have to admit that my P210 Legend Target is more enjoyable... just. Both are fantastic examples of the best that Sig's Master Shop in Germany had to offer. Better days for Sig, then.

In fact, those are the only two Sig pistols I own at present. I owned several, including the X5 Tac, a 228, P226ST, P220ST, P220R with all the Grayguns stuff on it, a P226R with all the Grayguns stuff, 938SAS, etc. etc. etc.

I kept the best and sold the rest, but I never fell in love with Sig. Nobody can say I didn't give them a fair shake, though.
