Treat it as an AR Pistol. All the same rules apply.

Yea you can have a telescoping brace.......just depends on how the arresting officer want to interpret the law.

It was dros'd with the PMR. Before it was just a standard mag release, so I had to put it on right before the ppt.

Telescoping brace is cool. Do not exceed 13.5” LOP. No VFG unless weapon has OAL of 26” or greater

                        LOP is federal.

"The ATF has advised that a braced pistol with a length of pull in excess of 13.5 inches may constitute a re-design of the brace into a stock.”

Everyone has braces in all 50 states. SB released them having 50 state legal braces. This has been known for years. My brother is a current San Diego County Sheriff and he says SB braces are legal in California. Take that for what its worth. He's a veteran of the SDSD of over 10 years and if he says its ok I am ok with that.

The VFG is federally legal as long as the AR Pistol has an OAL of 26.00 inches or more. They updated their opinion letter on how you measure that. So its your muzzle device off (unless its p/w'd) to the end of your buffer tube. Brace off. Then you also have to abide by "not concealing it on the person."
The AR Pistol then turns into a "firearm."
No AOW is needed if over 26.00 inches as per BATF' latest opinion letter.

As long as your AR pistol/handgun is classified as a title 1 firearm other in the state of California and over 26 inches in OAL and measured as I described it is fine in California. I have heard OAL of 30 inches and 32 inches but this is simply not true unless this changed 01JAN20. Also remember fixed magazines. There is no such thing as a "featureless" AR pistol.

                        In the state of Maine...

Maine law states ANY AR Pistol is considered a title 1 firearm. You follow the US Department of Justice/BATF guidelines and opinion letters and its 100% legal. Nobody cares what you have done to your pistol. Now if you go under 26.00 inches in OAL you can and will be charged. So a VFG with a standard magazine release and hi capacity magazines are 100% legal assembled in the state of Maine as long as your AR pistol OAL is 26.00 or more. Yes, 26.01 is legal.

And a little insite; We worked with the Bangor BATF satellite office and Portland field office agents and they flat out told us they do not go looking to enforce the VFG on the pistol (especially true in Winter) unless they see a 7.5 inch barrel with a VFG at a public range or rock quarry. We also have Maine Fish and Game Authority (better known as Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife) that are always out in the forest and hillsides and they can detain you until MSP arrives or cite you themselves, and again you will be charged. So you have to worry about local Sheriffs, Homeland Security, Border Patrol, BATF, Maine Fish and Game and MSP even in the bush. This goes from Rockland Maine north all the way up past Eastport Maine into Calais Maine. And also Rockland south to Kittery AND everything west. lol

I have a Shockwave Blade on my AR pistol. I also have a letter from the DOJ that came from the manufacturer website. With that said, I don't think I've ever used it at a range. Just once at twin sisters.
